Composed for cello trio or quartet, the works and arrangements in this programme were conceived by David Popper (1843-1913), Friedrich Grützmacher (1832-1903), Jacques Offenbach (1819-1880), Paul Bazelaire (1886-1958) and Reinhold Glière (1874-1956). With the exception of the latter, it should be noted that the composers played at this concert were once excellent cellists.
