A former member of the JUNO-winning A Tribe Called Red, he helped define a new era of Indigenous electronic music with the breakout track “Electric Pow Wow Drum,” now exceeding 25 million streams. With Heritage, a two-part body of work and the most ambitious project of his career, Shub has created his most complete statement yet. Raw, genre-defying, and deeply rooted in culture, the two albums together form a full autobiography, weaving electronic, hip-hop, and powwow energy into something that belongs equally in a club, at a festival, or in someone’s headphones. Anchored by bucket-list collaborations and a commitment to bringing Indigenous music to the biggest stages in the world, Heritage Part One and Two are unmistakably Shub.

Trio Fibonacci – Compositeurs voyageurs à la salle Bourgie

by Rédaction PAN M 360

Follow in the footsteps of composers whose music reflects a profound dialogue between cultures, homelands and diverse influences. The trios of George Onslow and Sergei Rachmaninov are distinguished by the musical colours of their respective destinies. A Franco-British composer, Onslow was a cosmopolitan figure of European Romanticism, blending Viennese classicism with French sensibility. His trio, at once elegant and full of vitality, testifies to the talent of Onslow, often dubbed the ‘French Beethoven’. Rachmaninoff expresses both his admiration for Tchaikovsky and his own nascent musical voice in his second Trio élégiaque. Slavic lyricism, pianistic virtuosity and dramatic depth already foreshadow the expressive richness of his future works. A new work by Katia Makdissi-Warren, whose style is influenced by Middle Eastern, Western and Aboriginal music, will complete the programme.

by Rédaction PAN M 360

An image of the sea that Schubert never glimpsed, depicted in French mélodies that he never heard, entices him while he remains stuck on dry land. As a form of consolation, the suffering of the Schubertian traveller recounted in these lieder is answered by the play of the waves in songs by Fauré, Chausson, Marguerite Canal, and Lili Boulanger.

Festival des musiques de création : Ensemble Éclat – Broken Spaces au Studio Desjardins du CEM

by Rédaction PAN M 360

Broken Spaces is the latest creation by the Ensemble Éclat, a collective dedicated to works by emerging composers in mixed music, bringing together some of the most promising performers from Montréal’s new music scene. Presented in an immersive 12-speaker setup, the concert offers a striking encounter between instruments, electronics, and digital visuals by artist Myriam Bleau. Broken Spaces takes the audience on a journey through a range of sonic atmospheres in an intense and deeply expressive program, reflecting a generation of artists reshaping contemporary music with boldness and individuality. The project first took shape at the CEM during a creation lab in 2025. This initial phase led to a residency at IRCAM in Paris — one of the world’s leading centers for music research and creation, founded by Pierre Boulez — where Broken Spaces will open the upcoming season, marking a remarkable achievement for a young Canadian ensemble. The project also received support from Le Vivier through its Pôle Relève program, which supports emerging artists in new music from project incubation to touring across Québec. Featuring Antonin Cuerrier (clarinet), Paul Çalebi (piano), Jeanne-Sophie Baron (violin), David Montreuil (viola), Audréanne Filion (composition, cello), Charles-Éric Fontaine (conductor), Myriam Bleau (video, lighting), and Quentin Lauvray (composition, electronics).

by Rédaction PAN M 360

With A Chorus of Footsteps, the Belgian collective Aifoon presents a participatory sound art experience that transforms a simple walk into an auditory exploration. Presented in downtown Jonquière, this work invites the public to take part in a guided stroll where participants carry small speakers from The Swarm system, allowing sounds to move freely through the group and the urban environment. Rather than a traditional concert, the experience offers an immersion into a world of textures, movement, and sonic presence inspired by footsteps, motion, and human traces. The city itself becomes an instrument, with locations contributing to the collective composition just as much as the walkers do. At the intersection of acousmatic music, performance, and sound installation, the piece plays with our perception and our shared experience of sound, transforming familiar streets into a landscape for listening. Playful, accessible, and entirely free, this family-friendly activity (ages 10 and up) provides an inviting introduction to contemporary sound art. Curious minds, walkers, families, and sensory explorers alike will find an experience that is as intriguing as it is welcoming. Two sound walks will be offered during the festival, providing multiple opportunities to take part in this collective exploration, where each participant helps shape the work as it unfolds in space. A distinctive FMC offering that invites us to listen differently — simply by walking together.
