Arion Orchestre Baroque : Noël baroque à Montréal à la salle Bourgie

Arion vous invite à célébrer les fêtes de fin d’année comme elles auraient pu l’être à Montréal à la fin du XVIIIe siècle. Dans cette ville où plusieurs cultures apprennent à vivre ensemble, le programme musical des célébrations de Noël est à l’image de cette société en train de se développer. On y entend des noëls français qui subsistent grâce aux éditions de Michel Corrette destinées aux mélomanes amateurs ainsi que des chants religieux protégés dans les bibliothèques de ce qui deviendra un siècle plus tard « la ville aux cent clochers », tout comme des œuvres arrivées d’Angleterre dans les malles des conquérants dont quelques pages d’une œuvre appelée « Messiah » d’un certain Handel ! La voix de la soprano Janelle Lucyk donnera vie à ce programme unique, soutenue par un ensemble instrumental qui comprend un instrument rarement entendu, le serpent d’église.

Arion invites you to celebrate the holiday season as it might have been in Montréal at the end of the 18th century. In this city where several cultures were learning to live together, the Christmas music program reflects a society in the making. You will hear French noëls, preserved thanks to Michel Corrette’s editions for amateur music lovers, as well as sacred chants safeguarded in the libraries of what would a century later become the “city of a hundred steeples.” Added to this are works brought over from England in the trunks of the conquerors, including excerpts from a piece called Messiah by a certain Handel! The radiant voice of soprano Janelle Lucyk will bring this unique program to life, supported by an instrumental ensemble featuring a rarely heard instrument: the church serpent.

Domaine Forget : Yves Lambert

Pour souligner ses 50 ans de carrière, Yves Lambert vous offre un spectacle généreux et festif qui explore son grand répertoire qu’il a bâti depuis ses tout débuts avec la Bottine Souriante jusqu’à aujourd’hui.
Pour l’occasion, il sera accompagné sur scène de son Grand Orchestre composé de 7 musiciennes et musiciens, Paul Audy (guitare, voix) Robin Boulianne (violon, mandoline, podorythmie, voix) Mathieu Royer (contrebasse), Geneviève St-Pierre (clavier) et une section de vent remplie de chaleur avec Mélanie Bourassa (clarinette basse et clarinette), Mary Chalk (basson) et Gabriel Schwartz (saxophone, flûte traversière, piccolo et percussion).
Avec une orchestration qui tend vers de nouvelles avenues harmoniques et rythmiques, Lambert présente ces titres les plus connus tels que La ziguezon, La cuisinière et Dans nos vieilles maisons ainsi que plusieurs chansons qui ont façonné son parcours empreint de textures sonores affirmant toujours sa « québécitude » passionnée, ouverte et créative!

To celebrate his 50-year career, Yves Lambert presents a generous and festive concert that explores the vast repertoire he has built from his very beginnings with La Bottine Souriante up to today.
For the occasion, he will be joined on stage by his Grand Orchestra, made up of seven musicians: Paul Audy (guitar, vocals), Robin Boulianne (violin, mandolin, foot percussion, vocals), Mathieu Royer (double bass), Geneviève St-Pierre (keyboard), and a warm, vibrant wind section featuring Mélanie Bourassa (bass clarinet and clarinet), Mary Chalk (bassoon), and Gabriel Schwartz (saxophone, flute, piccolo, and percussion).
With orchestrations that branch out into new harmonic and rhythmic avenues, Lambert performs his best-known songs such as La ziguezon, La cuisinière, and Dans nos vieilles maisons, as well as many other pieces that have shaped his journey—works infused with sound textures that constantly reaffirm his passionate, open, and creative “québécitude.”

Papa Roach est un groupe de rock alternatif et hard rock, deux fois nommé aux GRAMMY Awards et ayant vendu des disques certifiés platine. En 2025, ils célébreront le 25e anniversaire de leur album emblématique INFEST. I Want to Tell You Everything est une performance pour sept voix et piano qui explore avec sensibilité les thèmes de l’amour, de l’identité, de la connexion humaine et de la puissance de l’expression vocale. À travers un programme riche en contrastes, l’œuvre fait dialoguer différentes générations de compositeurs dans une expérience musicale profondément incarnée. Présenté par l’organisme torontois Soundstreams, figure importante de la création musicale au Canada reconnu pour ses productions ambitieuses et ses collaborations avec les plus grands interprètes, le concert rassemble des œuvres de Thierry Tidrow, Claude Vivier, Ana Sokolović et Michael Oesterle. Au cœur du spectacle, Love Songs et Shiraz de Claude Vivier agissent comme véritables piliers dramaturgiques. Habitées par la spiritualité et l’imaginaire du compositeur, ces œuvres marquantes portent la trace de ses voyages en Asie et au Moyen-Orient et témoignent de son langage unique, à la fois brut, lumineux et profondément personnel. Dans l’acoustique naturelle et enveloppante de la Chapelle Saint-Cyriac, les interprètes donnent vie à un parcours vocal saisissant, où la virtuosité se met au service de l’émotion. Une occasion unique de découvrir ces œuvres dans l’ambiance intime de ce lieu unique, situé aux abords du magnifique lac Kénogami. I Want to Tell You Everything is a performance for seven voices and piano that sensitively explores themes of love, identity, human connection, and the power of vocal expression. Through a richly contrasted program, the work brings together different generations of composers in a deeply embodied musical experience. Presented by the Toronto-based organization Soundstreams, an important force in contemporary music creation in Canada, known for its ambitious productions and collaborations with leading performers, the concert features works by Thierry Tidrow, Claude Vivier, Ana Sokolović, and Michael Oesterle. At the heart of the program, Love Songs and Shiraz by Claude Vivier serve as true dramatic pillars. Infused with the composer’s spirituality and imagination, these landmark works reflect his travels through Asia and the Middle East and showcase his unique musical language, at once raw, luminous, and deeply personal. In the natural, enveloping acoustics of Chapelle Saint-Cyriac, the performers bring to life a striking vocal journey where virtuosity is placed at the service of emotion. It is a rare opportunity to experience these works in the intimate setting of this unique venue, located on the shores of the magnificent Lake Kénogami. L’histoire de l’origine et de la fondation de Saint-Élie-de-Caxton fut longtemps un mystère. Que s’est-il passé au premier jour d’existence de la municipalité? Comment devint-on un village? Les trois premières pages des archives municipales ayant été déchirées, la chose était toujours demeurée secrète et nébuleuse. Aujourd’hui, grâce aux nombreuses collectes jaseuses et recoupements d’approximations, la vérité est enfin inventée. Il y avait un monde, un clocher, un curé et une veuve… et, un jour, une enfant aux cheveux blancs. Et le village fut!
Un rendez-vous incontournable du temps des Fêtes.

The first three pages of the municipal archives have been torn up, so it has always remained secret and nebulous. Today, thanks to the numerous collections and comparisons of approximations, the truth is finally invented. There was a world, a bell tower, a priest and a widow… and one day a white-haired child. And then the village was!

The world’s largest Cuban music ensemble, THE BUENA VISTA ORCHESTRA, also known as The Buena Vista Social Orchestra and Orquesta Buena Vista, is coming to Quebec City and Gatineau this fall. Screaming Headless Torsos est le projet phare du guitariste David Fiuczynski, alias Fuze. Dès leur premier album paru chez Warner, l’énergie brute et la virtuosité fulgurante du groupe les propulse au rang de phénomène culte. Leur funk-rock-jazz-world-fusion inclassable, à la fois déjanté et d’une précision redoutable, fédère un public fidèle et marque durablement plusieurs générations de musiciens à travers le monde. Fuze est reconnu comme l’un des grands spécialistes de la guitare fretless et des musiques microtonales. Il enseigne au prestigieux Berklee College of Music de Boston. Il a joué aux côtés de John Zorn, Jack DeJohnette, Dennis Chambers, Stewart Copeland, JoJo Mayer, John Medeski, Hiromi et Marcus Miller. Trente ans après l’album fondateur 1995 qui révélait l’énergie contagieuse du groupe et la virtuosité hors norme de Fuze et sa bande, Screaming Headless Torsos se présente au CEM dans une formation renouvelée, mais toujours aussi explosive. Avec la vocaliste Debo Ray, la spectaculaire clavériste Hidemi Akaiwa et une section rythmique imparable, le funk extrême du groupe promet un concert de clôture survolté!

Screaming Headless Torsos is the flagship project of guitarist David Fiuczynski, a.k.a. Fuze. From their very first album released on Warner, the band’s raw energy and dazzling virtuosity propelled them to cult status. Their unclassifiable blend of funk, rock, jazz, and world fusion—both wild and razor-sharp—has built a loyal following and left a lasting mark on generations of musicians around the world. Fuze is recognized as one of the leading specialists in fretless guitar and microtonal music. He teaches at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston and has performed alongside John Zorn, Jack DeJohnette, Dennis Chambers, Stewart Copeland, JoJo Mayer, John Medeski, Hiromi, and Marcus Miller. OSM : Metropolis en ciné-concert

Sous la ville, les travailleurs avancent en cadence, engloutis par des machines titanesques. Au sommet, dans la ville haute, une élite insouciante contemple son empire. Entre les deux mondes règne tension, oppression et révolte. Dès les premières images, le Metropolis de Fritz Lang nous happe dans une fresque futuriste saisissante, où l’humanité lutte pour ne pas être broyée par le progrès. Pour son centenaire, ce monument du cinéma muet renaît en ciné-concert dans sa version longue restaurée. Sous la direction de Frank Strobel, l’OSM interprète en direct la partition puissante de Gottfried Huppertz, révélant toute la modernité d’un chef-d’œuvre qui a façonné durablement l’esthétique du cinéma de science-fiction.

Beneath the city, workers march in unison, consumed by colossal machines. Above them, in the upper city, a carefree elite surveys its empire. Between these two worlds reign tension, oppression, and uprising. From its very first images, Fritz Lang’s Metropolis pulls us into a striking futuristic vision in which humanity struggles not to be crushed by progress. For its centennial, this monument of silent cinema is reborn as a live cine-concert in its restored extended version. Under the direction of Frank Strobel, the OSM performs Gottfried Huppertz’s powerful score live, revealing the full modernity of a masterpiece that has profoundly shaped the aesthetics of science-fiction cinema.
