Nuits d’Afrique : El Balcón

Thu 20 Jul 2023 • 06:00 pm Gypsy Jazz / latino
Scène TD - Montréal Gratuit
· by Rédaction PAN M 360

Perched on the heights of the world and its peoples, the six members are passionate about party music and have no desire to come down! A sound reminiscent of La Mano Negra and Django Reinhardt’s gypsy guitar, in a fusion that forces hands to clap from the very first chord. These revellers are fuelled by the liberating movement of the counter-current. The clutch to the next party is activated. A taste for an uninterrupted party of thunder, where characters infiltrate in Latin mode. A witch from Mexico’s Jarocho culture screams with delight at the sight of carpenter birds. And in one corner, the soaked melody of Eastern Europe, gypsies and bohemians amplifying the decor. A whole bath of influences, the fruit of a band watered by the currents of elsewhere and the crazy winds at the end of their instrumentation. With three albums released since 2019, the joyous musicians dare to borrow from Andalusian zapateado and cajon percussion to sing of hope and eternal freedom. Proof incarnate of the strength of the collective in the face of young hearts, fallen into the potion without ever extricating themselves from it. Addiction guaranteed!
