Despite the continuing uncertainty of this pandemic, Ensemble Lagom presents its first concert of the season featuring the repertoire of Austrian composer Arnold Schoenberg. The program presents two emblematic works of the composer: Pierrot Lunaire Op. 21 and Kammersymphonie No. 1. Composed at a time of global uncertainty, Schoenberg’s pieces reflect chaotic dispositions whose social relevance and necessity are fully relevant today. In a revolutionary departure from tonality towards the dislocation of form and content, the composer’s work proves to be one of the highest peaks in the history of classical music.
Ensemble Lagom is composed of the most prominent Canadian musicians of their generation:
Kelly Lin (direction),
Brittany Rae (soprano),
Jeanne-Sophie Baron (violin),
Joshua Morris (cello),
Matis Parinetti (clarinet),
Alex Huyghebaert (flute),
Lucas Bell (piano),
Thomas Ayouti (space layout).
