J-S Williams has played an important role in music both in Montreal and internationally with his remarkable work as a composer, guitarist and musician.  As a film composer he has worked on different shorts, feature films and ads. Amongst his influences are Mika Levi and Jóhann Jóhannsson. Like them, he likes to push the boundariesof what music can do, by challenging the traditions and experimenting. Williams sees the score as one of the characters, inseparable from the visual and often blurs the line between sound design and film music composition. In 2019 he was nominated for best original song at the Academy Screen Awards for the film “Sashinka”.
