Sax player DAVE REMPIS came to the attention of the avant-jazz world at the age of 22, when he became a member of a Chicagoan band that would lay claim to stardom: The Vandermark Five. Since the late ’90s, he has been very busy putting bands together, organizing concerts and running the Aerophonic Records label. His fierce yet lyrical playing puts him among the masters of his instrument.

Guitarist TASHI DORJI was born in Bhutan, but he has been living in the USA since the beginning of the millennium. He discovered improvised music in America, and then released a string of solo albums, first on acoustic guitar, then on electric, that attracted renowned collaborators and even earned him the opening spot on a Godspeed You! Black Emperor European tour.

In the fall of 2017, DORJI and a long-time acolyte, drummer Tyler Damon, approached REMPIS about forming a trio. That ensemble, called Kuzu, has released several records since then. The duo concert presented at FIMAV is a result of this collective work.
