With A Chorus of Footsteps, the Belgian collective Aifoon presents a participatory sound art experience that transforms a simple walk into an auditory exploration. Presented in downtown Jonquière, this work invites the public to take part in a guided stroll where participants carry small speakers from The Swarm system, allowing sounds to move freely through the group and the urban environment. Rather than a traditional concert, the experience offers an immersion into a world of textures, movement, and sonic presence inspired by footsteps, motion, and human traces. The city itself becomes an instrument, with locations contributing to the collective composition just as much as the walkers do. At the intersection of acousmatic music, performance, and sound installation, the piece plays with our perception and our shared experience of sound, transforming familiar streets into a landscape for listening. Playful, accessible, and entirely free, this family-friendly activity (ages 10 and up) provides an inviting introduction to contemporary sound art. Curious minds, walkers, families, and sensory explorers alike will find an experience that is as intriguing as it is welcoming. Two sound walks will be offered during the festival, providing multiple opportunities to take part in this collective exploration, where each participant helps shape the work as it unfolds in space. A distinctive FMC offering that invites us to listen differently — simply by walking together.
