Arion Orchestre Baroque – Mozart et Montgeroult à la Salle Bourgie

Chez Mozart, la théâtralité a toujours transparu dans ses œuvres, même instrumentales. C’est le cas pour la petite Symphonie n^o 26, écrite à 17 ans, et encore davantage pour le magistral Concerto pour piano n^o 24 d’un Mozart de 30 ans qui y sonde les profondeurs du cœur humain. Pianiste virtuose et pédagogue d’importance, Hélène de Montgeroult fut aussi une compositrice de grand talent qui sut faire évoluer son style en cette fin de XVIII^e siècle. Si son 1^er Concerto pour piano, adapté de concertos pour violon de Viotti, respire le classicisme, ses œuvres pour piano seul se tournent graduellement vers le futur. Nous sommes ravis de retrouver en ouverture de notre saison montréalaise l’étoile montante Élisabeth Pion, pianiste québécoise établie à Londres.

Theatricality has always been central to Mozart’s music, even in his instrumental works. Such is the case with his brief Symphony No. 26, written when he was 17, and even more so in his masterful Piano Concerto No. 24, composed at age 30, which explores the recesses of the human soul. A virtuoso pianist and eminent pedagogue, Hélène de Montgeroult was also a composer of great talent whose style evolved at the end of the 18^th century. While her Piano Concerto No. 1, an adaptation of Viotti violin concertos, is still in a very classical vein, her later works for solo piano are increasingly forward-looking. We are delighted to welcome once again, this time for the opening of our Montreal Season, Québec rising-star pianist now living in London, Élisabeth Pion.
