Alisa Weilerstein : Bach et son violoncelle au Festival de Lanaudière

Les suites de Bach, ce ne sont ni plus ni moins qu’une sorte d’Everest du violoncelle, une somme inaltérable, fondatrice, une cathédrale musicale, un aimant pour les interprètes comme pour les mélomanes. La virtuose Alisa Weilerstein, qui ne s’est plus produite au Festival depuis plus d’une décennie, nous convie à un marathon hors du commun : l’intégrale des six suites en deux soirées consécutives, lors desquelles elle se mesurera à l’un des monuments absolus du répertoire.

Bach’s suites are akin to the Mount Everest of the cello repertoire: unalterable, foundational, cathedral-like, and magnetic for performers and music lovers alike. Cello virtuosa Alisa Weilerstein, back at the Festival after more than a decade, beckons us to an awesome marathon: the performance of the complete cycle of six suites in two consecutive evenings.
