Née d’origine dominicaine et élevée dans le New Jersey, elle a embrassé sa position d’aberration au lycée avec des prédispositions pour la poésie et le basket (son surnom “Shake” fait référence à un dribble croisé particulièrement méchant). Elle a trouvé sa place au sein du crew G.O.O.D. Music après qu’ils aient entendu son single indépendant “Proud”.
