Présence autochtone: Show de l’Amitié Nuestroamericana

Sat 12 Aug 2023 • 05:00 pm Indigenous peoples
Place des Festivals - Montréal Gratuit
· by Rédaction PAN M 360

The Amitiénuestroamericana parade celebrates the fraternity that unites the First Nations, the peoples of Our America and those of other regions and continents of the world. Valuing intercultural exchanges, the event brings together representatives of communities of diverse origins who contribute to the vitality of Montreal’s human mosaic. The parade, which takes place in an atmosphere of peace and joy, is open to public participation. The fraternization fostered by the event is in keeping with the tradition of friendship that, throughout history, has united the First Nations with the peoples of Our America (North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean), particularly on this territory where we share common values. The parade is a unifying event, inviting participants and the public to share and reaffirm the ideals of First Nations, founding peoples and immigrant communities. At the forefront of these concerns are the preservation of cultural values and the protection of Mother Earth, for the benefit of present and future generations. The event, inspired by the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, adopted by the UN with the support of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, highlights the importance of the cultures of origin and founding peoples, while recognizing the rich contributions of the communities that Montreal welcomes and that contribute to the city’s identity, based on diversity and openness to the world.
