Led by Mohamed Mara Ginola and featuring djembes, dunduns, bells, shekeres and balafons, Benkadi—which means togetherness in the Mandinka language—has been baring its soul since 2011, in an authentic and captivating display of colourful rhythms, exalted song and dance with acrobatic and superlative theatrics, inviting its audiences to immerse their senses in the thousand-year-old traditions of Soundiata Keita’s Malian empire.
