Fourat Koyo est un artiste chanteur d’origine marocaine qui joue du guembri dans le style traditionnel de la musique Gnawa, et parsème son jeu par de subtiles sonorités inspirées du jazz, du funk et du rock.

Né à Essaouira, la ville des gnawas marocains, il a été élevé par le grand Maalem Omar El Hayat avec qui il se produit sur de nombreuses scènes, notamment au Festival de Musique Gnaoua d’Essaouira, ou à la Scène d’été de la Villette. Aux côtés de ce Maalem, Fourat a développé son talent de Koyo (karkabou, danse et chorale) ce qui lui a permis de devenir chanteur et joueur de guembri. 

Arrivé au Québec en 2017, il collabore avec plusieurs artistes de la scène montréalaise comme Maroc Couleur, Salamate Gnawa, Ayrad… Par la suite, il commence à jouer avec Grooz, artiste compositeur d’origine algérienne, avec qui il fait beaucoup de scènes de festivals et d’enregistrements en studio. Après plusieurs années de travail en commun, Grooz le soutien à développer son propre projet, réalise et produit son premier album dont la sortie est prévue pour mai 2023.

Fourat Koyo is an artist singer of Moroccan origin who plays the Guembri in the traditional style of Gnawa music, and sprinkles his playing with subtle sounds inspired by jazz, funk and rock.

Born in Essaouira, the city of Moroccan Gnawas, he was raised by the great Maalem Omar El Hayat with whom he performed on many stages, including the Festival of Gnaoua Music of Essaouira, the Scène d’été de la Villette. Alongside this Maalem, Fourat developed his talent for Koyo (karkabou, dance and choir) which allowed him to become a singer and guembri player. 

After arriving in Quebec in 2017, he collaborated with several artists of the Montreal scene such as Maroc Couleur, Salamate Gnawa, Ayrad … Thereafter, he began playing with Grooz, artist-composer of Algerian origin, with whom he made many festival scenes and studio recordings. After several years of working together, Grooz supports him to develop his own project, realizes and produces his first album whose release is planned for May 2023..
