Au commencement était… Monteverdi ! Avec sa « fable en musique » tirée du mythe antique d’Orphée, le compositeur jette les fondements d’un genre qui allait traverser les siècles : l’opéra. Sommités auréolées de par le monde, Leonardo García Alarcón et sa Cappella Mediterranea font leurs débuts conjoints au Canada à Lanaudière, restituant ce chef-d’œuvre unique dans toute sa splendeur, à la fois chant d’amour, hymne au pouvoir de la musique et conte philosophique aux accents intemporels.

In the beginning was… Monteverdi! With his “fable for music” based on the ancient myth of Orpheus, the composer laid the foundations for a genre that would last for centuries to come: opera.
