Semaine du Neuf 2025 : Totem Contemporain – Spirituel

Au cœur de cette installation cinétique, sonore et visuelle, un ballet céleste se déploie, orchestré par un mouvement circulaire qui insuffle vie et élan aux sons ainsi qu’à la lumière. Les treize dispositifs résonnent dans une danse envoûtante, où chaque sonorité tourbillonne et prend vie, invitant le public à se laisser emporter dans ce voyage sensoriel au paysage changeant. Chacun est convié à explorer les méandres de son être, à contempler ces instants uniques où le visuel et le sonore se rencontrent dans une harmonie inédite. La disposition en cercle vous invite à circuler et vivre l’œuvre à votre rythme sous différents angles. Sans faire référence à une religion ou un culte précis, les harmonies changeantes de l’œuvre peuvent rappeler tantôt des cloches d’église, tantôt des bols tibétains. Elle invite donc à l’imagination et à l’introspection sur le rapport que nous avons individuellement avec la spiritualité.

At the heart of this kinetic, sound and visual installation, a celestial ballet unfolds, orchestrated by a circular movement that breathes life and momentum into both sound and light. The thirteen devices resonate in a captivating dance, where each sound swirls and comes to life, inviting the audience to let themselves be carried away on a sensory journey through a changing landscape. Everyone is invited to explore the meanders of their own being, to contemplate these unique moments when visual and sound meet in a unique harmony. The circular layout invites you to move around and experience the work at your own rhythm, from different angles. Without referring to a specific religion or faith, the work’s shifting harmonies can be reminiscent of church bells or Tibetan singing bowls. It thus invites imagination and introspection on our individual relationship with spirituality.

Tamino au MTelus

Tamino est un auteur-compositeur-interprète belge qui s’est fait connaître à l’international à la fin des années 2010 grâce à un mélange de rock indie sombre et mélancolique agrémenté d’accents mélodiques arabes classiques. Né et élevé en Belgique, d’origine égyptienne et libanaise, son son reflète son identité complexe. Son style singulier lui a rapidement valu l’admiration d’artistes comme Lana Del Rey, qui l’a invité en tournée, et Colin Greenwood de Radiohead, qui apparaît sur son premier album Amir en 2018. Son deuxième album, Sahar (2022), prolonge l’esthétique cinématographique discrète de ses débuts et culmine avec un concert en 2023 aux pieds des pyramides de Gizeh. Installé à New York, Tamino a enregistré son troisième album Every Dawn’s a Mountain, prévu pour 2025, dont le premier single Babylon dévoile des arrangements centrés sur l’oud.

Tamino is a Belgian singer/songwriter who rose to international fame in the late 2010s with his blend of dark, moody indie rock and classical Arabic melodic accents. Born and raised in Belgium and of Egyptian and Lebanese heritage, his sound reflects his own complex identity, and his idiosyncratic style soon made fans of artists like Lana Del Rey, who invited him on tour, and Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood, who appeared on his debut album, 2018’s Amir. Tamino’s sophomore set, 2022’s Sahar, followed the quietly cinematic lead of the debut and culminated with a 2023 performance at the Great Pyramid of Giza. Basing himself in New York, he recorded his third album, 2025’s Every Dawn’s a Mountain, whose lead single « Babylon » previewed the LP’s oud-based arrangements.

OSM : Mozart et l’élégance d’Angela Hewitt

Il y a beaucoup de charme et d’éclat dans ce Concerto de Mozart interprété par la pianiste Angela Hewitt. En introduisant des citations de Beethoven et Haydn dans son œuvre, Colgrass crée une fascinante passerelle entre les époques musicales et propose un véritable voyage à travers le temps. Plongez ensuite dans la nostalgie hivernale de Tchaïkovski, qui évoque avec émotion ses promenades enneigées dans sa Symphonie n° 1.

Brought to life by pianist Angela Hewitt, Mozart’s Concerto dazzles with its charm and brilliance. Colgrass creates intriguing connections between musical eras by incorporating quotes from Beethoven and Haydn, taking listeners on a journey through time. The program concludes with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 1, which captures the nostalgic beauty of the composer’s snowy winter walks.

OM : Chants d’espoir

C’est l’espoir d’un monde meilleur, plus solidaire, plus empathique, qui a inspiré la programmation de ce concert dirigé par Yannick Nézet-Séguin, avec la pianiste Hélène Grimaud.
« J’ose lever les yeux », nous dit Florence Price, première compositrice afro-américaine, dans son Chant d’espoir. Suivant ses traces, Margaret Bonds s’inspire directement du mouvement pour les droits civiques pour ses Variations Montgomery, dédiées à Martin Luther King.
L’union nait des liens que l’on tisse, des ponts que l’on bâtit. Que ce soit entre humains ou entre genres musicaux. C’est ce que réalise Gershwin avec son Concerto pour piano près du jazz, interprété par l’une des pianistes les plus acclamées de notre époque, Hélène Grimaud. C’est aussi une marque de Bernstein qui, dans ses Chichester Psalms, balance entre optimisme et pessimisme, entre violence et réconfort.

Hope for a better, more united, more empathetic world inspired the programming of this concert, directed by Yannick Nézet-Séguin, with pianist Hélène Grimaud.
“I dare look up,” says Florence Price, the first African-American composer, in her Song of Hope. Following in her footsteps, Margaret Bonds drew inspiration from the civil rights movement for her Montgomery Variations, dedicated to Martin Luther King.
Unity is born of the bonds we forge, the bridges we build. Whether between people or between musical genres. Gershwin draws on this richness in his jazz-adjacent Piano Concerto, performed by one of the most acclaimed pianists of our time, Hélène Grimaud. This dynamic also comes through in the work of Bernstein, whose Chichester Psalms masterfully navigates the tension between optimism and pessimism, violence and compassion.

DA Uzi c’est ce rappeur originaire de la cité des 3 tours à Sevran, débordant d’authenticité et d’énergie. Issu du gros vivier de talent que constitue aujourd’hui cette ville du 93, DA Uzi a su tirer son épingle du jeu avec sa 1ère mixtape « Mexico » parue début 2019, un projet encensé par la critique et lui ayant permis de franchir un cap. DA Uzi, c’est donc aujourd’hui plus de 100 Millions de vues sur sa page YouTube, un projet vendu à plus de 30 000 exemplaires et un personnage à part dans le paysage rap. Rappeur sans filtre se caractérisant par l’ultra-sincérité de ses textes, DA Uzi a su passer du statut d’outsider faisant un rap très cru presque inaccessible, à celui de fer de lance d’un rap qui se veut authentique et sans artifice ; poussant finalement ses auditeurs à s’attacher à sa personnalité.

Le chanteur et guitariste canadien de metal progressif Devin Townsend a été qualifié de « multi-everythingist » par la presse rock. En plus d’être un instrumentiste célébré, il est compositeur, producteur, arrangeur et chef d’orchestre. Sa première apparition enregistrée remonte à son rôle de chanteur dans le groupe de Steve Vai sur Sex & Religion. Il a également collaboré avec Front Line Assembly et Skinny Puppy, et a dirigé le groupe de metal extrême Strapping Young Lad. Sa carrière solo, entamée en 1997 avec l’opus de science-fiction Ocean Machine (Biomech), fait l’objet de débats passionnés dans les cercles de musique extrême. Il a enregistré plus de deux douzaines d’albums studio et live avec divers musiciens. Son projet conceptuel et progressif The Devin Townsend Project est sans doute son projet le plus connu. Les albums Ki (2009), Ziltoid (Dark Matters) (2015) et Transcendence (2016) illustrent ses ambitions à travers des projets unifiés, accessibles et provocateurs, salués par les communautés metal et prog-rock. L’album solo Empath est sorti en 2019, suivi du double The Puzzle/Snuggles en 2021, puis de Lightwork en 2022.

Canadian progressive metal singer and guitarist Devin Townsend has been referred in the rock press as a « multi-everythingist »; in addition to being a celebrated instrumentalist, he is a composer, producer, arranger, and bandleader. While his earliest recorded appearance was as a vocalist with Steve Vai’s band on Sex & Religion, he also worked with Front Line Assembly and Skinny Puppy, and led the almost unbearably heavy extreme metal group Strapping Young Lad. His recorded solo work since 1997’s rocking sci-fi opus, Ocean Machine (Biomech), has been hotly debated in extreme music circles. He has recorded more than two dozen solo studio and live albums with a variety of musicians. Virtual Riot au MTelus

Comme Skrillex et Girl Talk avant lui, le DJ et producteur allemand Valentin Brunn privilégie les montages rapides et chaotiques lorsqu’il publie ses enregistrements EDM sous le nom de Virtual Riot. Né et élevé à Marl, en Allemagne, Brunn a lancé ce projet en 2011 avec l’EP From Space sur le label Phantom Hertz Recordings. Ce même label a sorti l’EP Phantom la même année, puis l’empreinte Quantum a publié l’EP SuperHuman en 2012. Sectionz Records a sorti son premier album There Goes Your Money en 2013, tandis que l’EP Sugar Rush est paru sur Audiophile Live la même année. En 2014, son EP We Are Not Alone a marqué le début de sa collaboration avec Discipline Recordings, qui a également sorti les EP Nightmare et Machinery en 2015, ainsi que Chemistry en 2016.
