Le Festival des Arts de Saint-Sauveur présente l’Orchestre Métropolitain avec Yannick Nézet-Séguin

Saluons comme il se doit la venue au Festival de l’Orchestre Métropolitain après trois ans d’absence, sous la baguette de son illustrissime chef, Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Le maestro, récemment récompensé d’un prix Grammy, poursuit sa fabuleuse carrière comme directeur musical du Metropolitan Opera à New York et de l’Orchestre de Philadelphie, sans délaisser pour autant son cher orchestre montréalais auprès duquel il s’est engagé pour la vie. Au programme, la Symphonie No 5 de Beethoven, qui figure parmi les œuvres les plus célèbres du monde, reconnaissable dès ses premières mesures, précédée de l’ouverture de Ville cosmopolite d’Airat Ichimouratov, des 3e et 4e mouvements de la Symphonie No 3 de Louise Farrenc et d’Eko-Bmijwang de Barbara Assiginaak. Un rendez-vous à ne pas manquer!

We’re poised to give a fitting welcome to the Orchestre Métropolitain, returning after a three-year absence, under the baton of illustrious conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin. The Grammy Award-winning maestro continues his fabulous career as music director of the Met in New York and the Philadelphia Orchestra, without abandoning his beloved Montreal orchestra, to which he has made a lifelong commitment. The program for this night includes Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, one of the world’s most famous works, instantly recognizable from its opening bars, preceded by Airat Ichimouratov’s Cosmopolitan City Overture, the third and fourth movements of Louise Farrenc’s Symphony No. 3, and Eko-Bmijwang by Barbara Assiginaak. An event not to be missed!

Conrad Tao et Caleb Teicher au Festival des Arts de Saint-Sauveur

Entre eux, l’alchimie est palpable. L’un est chorégraphe et prodige des claquettes, l’autre, compositeur et pianiste virtuose. Rivalisant de talents, Caleb Teicher et Conrad Tao collaborent depuis quelques années à des concerts de danse électrisants. Leur spectacle précédent, More Forever, a été récompensé d’un prix Bessie à New York. Counterpoint commence et se termine par un Aria des Variations Goldberg de Bach. Également au programme d’autres morceaux classiques (Brahms, Ravel, Mozart), des standards du jazz, et pour couronner le tout, une œuvre qui jette un pont entre traditions et styles, Rhapsody in Blue de Gershwin. Danse et musique ne font qu’un. Un vrai moment de plaisir.

The chemistry between them is palpable. One is a choreographer and tap-dancing sensation, the other a composer and virtuoso pianist. The ultra-talented duo Caleb Teicher and Conrad Tao have been working together for years, creating and performing exhilarating dance concerts. Their last show, More Forever, won a Bessie Award in New York. This year, Counterpoint starts and ends with a movement from Bach’s Goldberg Variations. Also on the program, other classical works (Brahms, Ravel, Mozart), jazz standards, and a work that spans the two genres, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. Music and dance blend into a seamless work of true pleasure.
