Les Charbonniers de l’enfer : F-I FI, N-I NI! à la salle Octave-Crémazie

by Rédaction PAN M 360

“Time passes, and it takes its time,” says a song. And time has indeed passed! After more than thirty years joyfully toiling here and elsewhere, stoking the glowing embers of Québec’s traditional repertoire, Les Charbonniers de l’enfer are offering one last chance to see them on stage, in a show directed with the brilliant vision of Émile Proulx-Cloutier. Thirty years of gathering and sharing; thirty years of singing without ever losing heart, keeping time with the tapping foot; thirty years of camaraderie in unison and harmony; thirty years of getting along well, and sometimes keeping each other waiting. After all those joyful years and a great sorrow marked by the passing of their dear Jean-Claude, the “Rossignolet des bois,” why not treat themselves while giving pleasure to others as well? And so Michel Bordeleau, Michel Faubert, André Marchand, and Normand Miron are once again taking to the roads they have traveled so often, presenting this final tour of their unforgettable musical world.

To mark 50 years of his career, Yves Lambert presents a generous and festive show exploring the vast repertoire he has built since his early days with La Bottine Souriante up to today. Even though I have a rocker’s temperament, there’s still sensitivity, even when I’m playing folk music. It’s fluid, it’s beautiful, it’s bold; it has all the qualities.” – Yves Lambert

OSQ : Carmina Burana à la salle Louis-Fréchette

by Rédaction PAN M 360

Music that seems to come from ancient times, driven by telluric forces, ancestral rhythms, and primal chants with universal resonance : this is how Carl Orff imagined Carmina Burana. He selected 24 secular poems from a 13th-century collection discovered in a Bavarian abbey to compose a monumental staged cantata. The work opens and closes with the famous O Fortuna, an enchanting and powerful chorus that is simply unforgettable. A leading Canadian cast brings to life the themes of fate, love, and fortune highlighted by Orff through striking use of chorus, orchestra, and percussion, creating a concert experience that audiences will not soon forget. In the first half of the program, the orchestra will perform a new work by Quebec composer and Université Laval professor Éric Morin. His composition is inspired by the first part of the dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell.

Lynda Lemay : La onzième folie à la salle Octave-Crémazie

by Rédaction PAN M 360

The wild tale of Lynda Lemay is getting a fresh new look. Her show La vie est un conte de fous has evolved and is now called La onzième folie. You will still find the same Lynda Lemay, the same freedom, and the same musicians on stage. Yet the journey into the heart of life now takes different paths. The intensity remains the same, but with new feelings, emotions that somehow manage to be stronger than ever. It’s the same roller-coaster ride, but in a brand-new attraction. The lighting, masterfully designed by Pierre Roy, who has been at the helm for decades, reveals its full splendor, while the sound, handled by a true prodigy in the field, brings the instruments straight to the heart and Lynda’s voice straight to the gut. It’s the same world, but illuminated in new ways. In this new show, Lynda renews her interpretations, pushes improvisation even further, lets herself go, laughs freely, and connects with her loyal audience. On piano, guitar, and backing vocals, the warm and devoted Claude Pineault creates spontaneous arrangement miracles. The same goes for Marc Angers, who sways with emotion, chin resting on his magical violin. La onzième folie also coincides with Lynda’s eleventh tour of shows in her career. Clearly, the number eleven is a lucky charm.
