Thierry Bégin-Lamontagne is undoubtedly one of the most gifted classical guitarists in Quebec. Since his teenage years, this authentic virtuoso has always shown a surprising ability to reach very high technical standards, which has led him to an international level of attention. And that’s why nylon-string guitar fans absolutely must discover him, if they haven’t already. For this concert, he’ll play works by J.S. Bach, Mauro Giuliani, Eduardo Sáinz de la Maza, Agustín Barrios Mangoré, Patrick Roux, Arnaud Dumond and Carlo Domeniconi. (Alain Brunet)
Over four lecture-concerts, organist and harpsichordist Geneviève Soly tackles the complete 24 preludes and fugues of the first book of The Well-Tempered Clavier, from Johann Sebastian Bach, the absolute genius of the Baroque period… and of all others! Composed for cello trio or quartet, the works and arrangements in this programme were conceived by David Popper (1843-1913), Friedrich Grützmacher (1832-1903), Jacques Offenbach (1819-1880), Paul Bazelaire (1886-1958) and Reinhold Glière (1874-1956). With the exception of the latter, it should be noted that the composers played at this concert were once excellent cellists.
