MINT SIMON, c’est le projet solo du leader du band indie-pop Caveboy. Originaire de Montréal, Mint est un enfant du théâtre devenu pop star, existant quelque part sur le spectre du genre entre Ferris Bueller et Prince. Sa musique est une exploration sonore et lyrique de l’amour, des occasions manquées, du désir et de la libération sexuelle. Mint s’y découvrir et s’y exprime, développant une sonorité musicale unique pour raconter sa quête d’acceptation de soi avec des chansons pop fluides, captivantes et accrocheuses. Tout de cuire et de cuirette, scintillant et résolument queer — ce prince de la pop puise dans ses influences des années 80 et 90, tout en demeurant aussi libre qu’authentique.

MINT SIMON is the solo project of the front person of indie-pop band, Caveboy. Born & raised in Montreal, Mint is a theatre kid, turned band lead, turned pop star living somewhere on the gender spectrum between Ferris Bueller and Prince. Their music is a sonic and lyrical exploration of love, missed opportunities, desire and sexual liberation. Mint is using this as a vehicle for self-discovery and expression, as they develop their unique musical sound as a solo act while sharing their journey of self-acceptance with captivating and effortlessly catchy pop tunes. Leather, pleather, shimmer n’ glimmer – they are unapologetically queer – a pop prince tapping into their 80s and 90s influences, while being unabashedly themselves and having zero restrictions.

Luella

Luella est le projet musical de Liv Whitfield, une artiste de 20 ans basée à Kingston. Sa sonorité dreampop soul est surtout connue pour ses lignes de base accrocheuses, ses voix nettes et ses paroles honnêtes. Son premier album sorti en 2022, Luna, a été produit en collaboration avec son père, Zane Whitfield, au studio North of Princess (Glorious Sons, Kathleen Edwards, Blue Stones). En moins d’un an, Luella a tranquillement accumulé quelque 30 000 streams vidéo et plus de 100 000 streams sur Spotify, tout en jouant à guichets fermés aux côtés de fanclubwallet, Dizzy et Claudia Bouvette. Le nouvel album de Luella, Summer Bummer, est un testament à ses dernières années de jeune fille, capturant l’essence douce-amère des étés éphémères, des tourments du premier amour et des cœurs inévitablement brisés. Cet album est plus audacieux, transmettant une nouvelle confiance en soi chez Luella, qui demeure néanmoins fidèle à la vulnérabilité qui la caractérise.

Luella is the musical project of 20-year-old Kingston-based artist Liv Whitfield. Her soulful dream-pop sound is most notable for its catchy baselines, crisp vocals, and honest lyrics. 2022 brought the release of her debut album, Luna, produced in collaboration with her father, Zane Whitfield, at North of Princess Studio (Glorious Sons, Kathleen Edwards, Blue Stones). In less than a year, Luella quietly amassed 30k video streams, and over 100,000 streams on Spotify while playing sold-out shows alongside fanclubwallet, Dizzy, and Claudia Bouvette.
Luella’s newly released sophomore album, Summer Bummer, is a testament to her final years of girlhood, capturing the bittersweet essence of fleeting summers and the complexities of first love and inevitable heartbreak. This album is bolder with a newfound confidence all while staying true to her trademark vulnerability.

The Petras

The Petras est un groupe pop-rock indépendant entièrement féminin de Kingston, en Ontario. Inspiré par les rockers The Runaways et The Beaches, leur son distinctif mélange des sensibilités rétro et modernes avec un puissant mélange de voix captivantes, de solos mélodiques et de rythmes entraînants. The Petras is an all-female, indie pop-rock band from Kingston, Ontario. Almond Milk

Almond Milk est le projet audiovisuel emblématique de Simon Kerr, producteur et chanteur de 18 ans. C’est au cœur de la tumultueuse scène musicale montréalaise que Sara-Danielle a découvert son inspiration. Ici, elle consacrait ses journées à perfectionner son art, s’immergeant dans le piano, la voix et les subtilités complexes de l’écriture de chansons. Sa musique se présente comme une tapisserie tissée des fils de ses expériences, chaque note reflétant son voyage introspectif ainsi que la réflexion de son humanité entrelacée avec le monde qui l’entoure. Elle est prévue pour sortir son premier album, ReRUN, à l’automne 2024, réalisé en collaboration avec Christian Sean Trudel, mixé par Warren Spicer (Plants And Animals, La Force, Unessential Oils), et masterisé par Philip Shaw Bova (Feist, Andy Shauf, Lake Street Dive). ReRUN promet d’être un bassin captivant d’exploration à la fois sonore et émotionnelle, avec Sara-Danielle se tenant fièrement parmi certaines de ses propres influences et artistes du genre (Charlotte Day Wilson, Olivia Dean, Jorja Smith).

It was in the heart of Montreal’s tumultuous music scene that Sara-Danielle discovered her inspiration. Here, she devoted her days to perfecting her craft, immersing herself in piano, voice and the intricate intricacies of songwriting. Her music is like a tapestry woven from the threads of her experiences, each note reflecting her introspective journey as well as the reflection of her humanity intertwined with the world around her.

She is scheduled to release her debut album, ReRUN, in autumn 2024, produced in collaboration with Christian Sean Trudel, mixed by Warren Spicer (Plants And Animals, La Force, Unessential Oils), and mastered by Philip Shaw Bova (Feist, Andy Shauf, Lake Street Dive). ReRUN promises to be a captivating pool of both sonic and emotional exploration, with Sara-Danielle standing proud among some of her own influences and artists in the genre (Charlotte Day Wilson, Olivia Dean, Jorja Smith).

Dresser performs lyrically focused art-rock with great care for engaging and impressing their live audience. The three-piece band delivers an impactful and dynamic set that includes both previously released material as well as tracks from their forthcoming sophomore album ‘Fuel’.

Dresser est un groupe d’art-rock qui met l’emphase sur les textes et les arrangements foudroyants dans leur musique. Le trio de musiciens ne déçoit jamais, avec des performances intenses et engagées, ils partageront des morceaux de leur prochain album “Fuel” ainsi que plusieurs autres chansons.

Concocting a blissfully eclectic assemblage of ‘60s garage pop, ‘70s guitar riffage and ‘90s DIY style, The Wesleys are an absolute breath of fresh air. Driving, uptempo rock numbers featuring jangly, fuzzy guitar arpeggios and melodic vocal sweeps are abundant on the 2022 EP Outside Voices, The Wesleys are set to release debut LP in the spring of 2024.

Safia Nolin, a committed and independent artist from Quebec, transcends musical and social conventions by exploring the most intimate facets of her being. She presents herself as a political being, refusing to conform to established feminine norms, openly lesbian and racialized. With a deliberately raw sound and authentic lyrics, Safia Nolin redefines folk grunge with an aesthetic of her own. His recent release, the diptych of singles “Et Si, De/main l’oiseau”, illustrates this artistic evolution well.

Safia Nolin, artiste engagée et indépendante du Québec, transcende les conventions musicales et sociales en explorant les facettes les plus intimes de son être. Elle se présente comme un être politique, refusant de se conformer aux normes féminines établies, ouvertement lesbienne et racisée. Avec un son volontairement brut et des paroles authentiques, Safia Nolin redéfinit le folk grunge avec une esthétique qui lui est propre. Sa récente sortie, le dyptique de singles “Et Si, De/main l’oiseau”, illustre bien cette évolution artistique.

Montreal artist & musician Sasha Cay cut her teeth on the city’s bars and basements, playing & hosting open mics alongside performing with local punk bands before emerging with a collection of bedroom recordings as a teenager — lo-fi indie songs inspired by the idiosyncratic tunings of Nick Drake & the spontaneity of The Velvet Underground.

Taverne Tour : Family Man, Carlyn, Cyrious au Quai des brumes

Relentless and brutal are the two words that define the group’s evolving sound. Iconoclast, the forthcoming album explores the darker sides of the member’s life experiences and condenses it all into a gut-wrenching and poignantly intentional piece of work. Despite the weight of the topics Iconoclast is based on, the group has managed to retain a “tongue-in-cheekiness” about themselves, which speaks to the underlying theme of finding true comfort in the most uncomfortable situations.

Implacable et brutal sont les deux mots qui définissent le son évolutif du groupe. Iconoclast, l’album à venir, explore les aspects les plus sombres des expériences de vie des membres du groupe et les condense en une œuvre déchirante et poignante. Malgré le poids des sujets sur lesquels Iconoclast est basé, le groupe a réussi à conserver une “langue enjouée” à son sujet, ce qui témoigne du thème sous-jacent de la recherche d’un véritable réconfort dans les situations les plus inconfortables.

Born in Annapolis Maryland and based in Montreal, the self proclaimed “nightmare pop” artist Carlyn claims influences like Syd Barrett, Muse, Britney Spears and Madison Beer as guiding her creative process. To see her in concert is to see those influences brought to life, alongside the bravado and showmanship of some of the 80’s best rock bands mixed with some of the more recent popular pop acts. Over the last year Carlyn has written and recorded her first full length album. The wait is finally over.

Unessential Oils est le nouveau projet de Warren Spicer, chanteur du groupe Montréalais Plants and Animals. Le projet s’inspire du Tropicália, du jazz et du folk. La musique a été comparée à Alabaster de Plume, Connan Mockasin, Hermanos Gutierrez, Devendra Barnhat… Un album paraîtra en 2024.

Unessential Oils is the new project from Warren Spicer, lead singer of Montreal band Plants and Animals. The project is inspired by Tropicália, jazz and folk. The music has been compared to Alabaster by Plume, Connan Mockasin, Hermanos Gutierrez, Devendra Barnhat… An album will be released in 2024.

Belle Tower (iel/elle) est le projet folk rock country de l’ancienne montréalaise Isabella Harned, aujourd’hui basée sur la côte ouest. Son style combine des paroles profondes et honnêtes avec une légèreté sonore particulière, attribuée aux harmonies vocales superposées, aux lignes de guitare rêveuses et à l’instrumentation variée présentée sur son premier EP ‘Tend to’ sorti en 2021, Iel travaille sur de la nouvelle musique qui sortira juste à temps pour le festival.

Belle Tower (iel/elle) is the folk rock country project of former Montrealer Isabella Harned, now based on the West Coast. Her style combines deep, honest lyrics with a distinctive sonic lightness, attributed to layered vocal harmonies, dreamy guitar lines and varied instrumentation featured on her debut EP ‘Tend to’ released in 2021, Iel is working on new music to be released just in time for the festival.

Patrick Krief

Vétéran de la scène musicale montréalaise, Patrick Krief publie de la musique depuis près de vingt ans, d’abord en tant que membre du groupe The Dears, puis dans le cadre de ses propres projets, notamment Black Diamond Bay, et, plus récemment, en tant qu’artiste solo. Sa musique évoque la riche tradition britannique des Beatles et le baryton sulfureux de Leonard Cohen.

A veteran of the Montreal music scene, Patrick Krief has been releasing music for nearly two decades, first as a member of The Dears then via his own projects including Black Diamond Bay and, more recently, as a solo artist.

Né dans le nord-est des États-Unis (il n’y a pas plus nord-est que le Maine), ayant grandi à Montréal, Canada (il n’y a pas plus cool), Mack MacKenzie a traversé des frontières durant toute sa vie créative Rock’n Roll. En tant qu’artiste solo et auteur-compositeur, chanteur et chef de file du groupe alt-country montréalais Three O’Clock Train, Mack a donné plus de 2 000 concerts dans tous les clubs rock, honky-tonk, théâtres et bars à travers les vastes étendues du Canada et des États-Unis.

Born in the northeastern U.S. (it doesn’t get more northeastern than Maine), raised in Montreal, Canada (it doesn’t get any cooler than that), Mack MacKenzie has crossed borders throughout his creative Rock ‘n Roll life. As a solo artist and songwriter, singer and frontman of Montreal alt-country band Three O’Clock Train, Mack has played over 2,000 gigs in rock clubs, honky-tonks, theaters and bars across the vast expanses of Canada and the United States.

Dès son arrivé à Montréal en 1990, Timothy Armstrong, membre de Brokenhead Ojibwé Nation à Manitoba, a été chanteur pour plusieurs groupes, ainsi que soliste pour le Peoples Gospel Choir de Montréal. Pendant son passage avec le Peoples Gospel Choir, il a monté sur scène avec plusieurs artistes appréciés du Québec, tel que Patrick Norman, Breen Lebœuf et Dan Bisgras. En tant qu’activiste des Premières Nations, il utilise sa musique pour mettre en lumière les enjeux touchant son peuple. 

Since arriving in Montreal in 1990, Timothy Armstrong, a member of Manitoba’s Brokenhead Ojibwe Nation, has been a singer with several groups, as well as a soloist with Montreal’s Peoples Gospel Choir. During his time with the Peoples Gospel Choir, he performed with many of Quebec’s best-loved artists, including Patrick Norman, Breen Lebœuf and Dan Bisgras. As a First Nations activist, he uses his music to highlight the issues affecting his people.

Le Taverne Tour présente Mantisse & Dope.gng au Quai des brumes

Thomas Thivierge-Gauthier, connu sous l’alias de Mantisse au sein du groupe de rap montréalais LaF, est un auteur-compositeur-interprète de 25 ans qui travaille actuellement sur son premier effort en solo.

Bnjmn.lloyd, membre du même groupe, signe la production du projet dans lequel on peut reconnaître des sonorités hip-hop, jazz et un intérêt particulier pour la poésie et le lyrisme. À cela vient s’ajouter une trame narrative sonore de multiples musiciens, dont le jeu de guitare de Mantisse.

Thomas Thivierge-Gauthier, known as Mantisse in the Montreal rap group LaF, is a 25-year-old singer-songwriter currently working on his first solo effort.

Bnjmn.lloyd, a member of the same group, is producing the project, which features hip-hop, jazz and a particular interest in poetry and lyricism. To this is added a narrative soundtrack of multiple musicians, including the guitar playing of Mantisse.
