Drogue : Spectacle Zéro Trouble au Ministère

C’est par ennui de mettre trop de guitares et trop d’amplis dans un truck pour aller jouer trop fort quelque part que la formation Drogue apparaît. Amis de longue date, Stéphane Papillon et Jean-Sébastien Chouinard (XLarge) avaient envie de ramener le rock énergique, revendicateur et explosif dans un paysage où le style a pris une tangente un peu plus cérébrale depuis quelques années. C’est ainsi en invitant Pierre Fortin (Les Dales Hawerchuk) à se joindre à l’exaltation que le groupe décide de se parker au studio Tone Bender pour travailler sur ce qui deviendra son premier EP éponyme. Fortement inspirée des Hives, des Sonics et d’Iggy Pop avec son rock décapant, la formation sature ses guitares autant que possible avant d’envoyer quelques esquisses à Ludwig Wax (Le Nombre, Démolition) qui viendra compléter le cocktail. Le chanteur, bien connu pour ses prestations scéniques déchaînées et téméraires, collabore avec Jean-Philippe Roy (Secrétaires Volantes, Le Nombre) pour l’écriture des textes de ce premier EP sur un ton désinvolte, corrosif et dadaïste. Comme un détonateur prêt à exploser ou à partir de tout côté, Drogue c’est une force de frappe, une critique sociale, de l’entertainment pur et brut qui arrache tout.

It was out of boredom of putting too many guitars and too many amps in a truck to go play too loud somewhere that the band Drogue appeared. Long time friends, Stéphane Papillon and Jean-Sébastien Chouinard (XLarge) wanted to bring back energetic and explosive rock in a landscape where the style has taken a more cerebral tangent for a few years. Thus, inviting Pierre Fortin (Les Dales Hawerchuk) to join in the excitement, the band decided to parker at the Tone Bender studio to work on what would become their first self-titled EP. Heavily inspired by the Hives, the Sonics and Iggy Pop with their blistering rock, the band saturates their guitars as much as possible before sending some sketches to Ludwig Wax (Le Nombre, Démolition) who will complete the cocktail. The singer, well known for his wild and reckless stage performances, collaborates with Jean-Philippe Roy (Secrétaires Volantes, Le Nombre) for the writing of the lyrics of this first EP in a casual, corrosive and Dadaist tone. Like a detonator ready to explode or to go off on any side, Drogue is a striking force, a social criticism, pure and raw entertainment that rips off everything.

Prettyboys Au Ministère

“PROM NIGHT” sera la première apparition live du groupe “prettyboys” à Montréal, dans la visualisation de leur dernier album “cheap motels and wine bottles” accompagné de Hello, I See et de leur DJ KYS. Dans le style d’alternative-rap/indie-pop, le spectacle sera haut en couleur et saura plaire au large public, avec des ressemblances à Milky Chance, Lil peep et Dominic Fike. “PROM NIGHT” will be the first live appearance of the band “prettyboys” in Montreal, in the visualization of their latest album “cheap motels and wine bottles” accompanied by Hello, I See and their DJ KYS. In the style of alternative-rap/indie-pop, the show will be colorful and will appeal to a wide audience, with resemblances to Milky Chance, Lil peep and Dominic Fike. Éric Charland revient avec le spectacle-lancement de Maladresse, son premier album complet. Ce nouvel opus entrelace une poésie clair-obscur aux guitares vaporeuses, synthés et batteries tranchantes issues d’une influence pop-indie britannique. Ses textes personnels et singuliers résonnent comme le parfait écho d’une nouvelle réalité où la solitude, la déception et l’amour inclusif (LGBTQ+) font partie d’un passage obligé.

Éric Charland is back with the show-launch of Maladresse, his first full-length album. This new opus intertwines chiaroscuro poetry with vaporous guitars, synths and sharp drums from a British pop-indie influence. His personal and singular lyrics sound like the perfect echo of a new reality where loneliness, disappointment and inclusive love (LGBTQ+) are part of an obligatory passage.

Pianiste de renommée internationale, ayant bâti sa réputation au cours de 20 ans de résidence à New York et au fil de nombreuses tournées autour du globe, Jean-Michel Pilc réside à Montréal depuis 2015 et enseigne le jazz et l’improvisation à l’Université McGill. Jean-Michel Pilc est un musicien et compositeur d’une profonde originalité, il vient de sortir de nombreux titres sur l’étiquette Justin Time, et son prochain album, Symphony, sera lancé à l’Off Jazz. Improvisateur sans barrière, ses prestations sont toujours intenses, imprévisibles et de haute volée. Le répertoire de son concert sera fait d’improvisations, de standards et de compositions au piano solo.

An internationally renowned pianist who has built his reputation over 20 years of residency in New York City and numerous tours around the globe, Jean-Michel Pilc has resided in Montreal since 2015 and teaches jazz and improvisation at McGill University. Jean-Michel Pilc is a musician and composer of profound originality, he has just released numerous titles under the Justin Time label, and his next album, Symphony, will be launched at L’Off Jazz. An adept improviser with no barriers, his performances are always intense, unpredictable and of the highest quality. The repertoire of his concert will include improvisations, standards and solo piano compositions.

L’off jazz présente Eyevin Nonet

En 2019, avec la bénédiction de Terri Castillo Chapin, la veuve du fameux saxophoniste Thomas Chapin, le batteur Ivan Bamford a rendu hommage à ce saxophoniste mort en 1998 à l’âge de 40 ans en créant les ensembles Eyevin Trio et Eyevin Nonet. Voici une occasion idéale de voir et d’apprécier le nonet réuni en spectacle au Off Jazz en 2022 !

In 2019, with the blessing of Terri Castillo Chapin, the widow of the famous saxophonist Thomas Chapin, drummer Ivan Bamford has paid tribute to the saxophonist who died in 1998 at the age of 40 by creating the Eyevin Trio and Eyevin Nonet ensembles. This is an ideal opportunity to see and appreciate the nonet together in a show at L’Off Jazz in 2022!

BØNANZA : Lancement d’album au Ministère

Bønanza présente une musique aux accents Funk, Soul et Pop, mettant de l’avant à parts égales plaisir, sincérité, nostalgie et douceur.

Cumulant à travers ses différents projets plusieurs nominations, des millions d’écoutes et plus de 700 spectacles, Dominic Pelletier a su tracer son propre chemin grâce à sa fougue, sa détermination et son talent. Sa première offrande en tant que Bønanza, Prince Limonade, est à mi-chemin entre délire psychédélique et mise à nu touchante, un album qui veut rendre hommage à l’humain, aux bonheurs simples, aux émotions candides et à la nature grandiose qui nous entoure.  

Le 18 octobre sera l’occasion inédite de voir cet album prendre forme sur scène.

Bønanza presents a music with Funk, Soul and Pop accents, putting forward in equal parts pleasure, sincerity, nostalgia and sweetness.

With several nominations, millions of listens and over 700 shows to his credit, Dominic Pelletier has carved out his own path thanks to his drive, determination and talent. His first offering as Bønanza, Prince Limonade, is halfway between psychedelic delirium and touching exposure, an album that pays homage to the human being, to simple joys, to candid emotions and to the grandiose nature that surrounds us.
