Actors au Ritz PDB

Inspiré par des groupes des années 80 tels que Joy Division, New Order et Roxy Music, Actors est un quatuor post-punk/darkwave originaire de Vancouver, en Colombie-Britannique. Formé en 2012 par le chanteur/guitariste Jason Corbett, la formation a été complétée avec l’ajout de la synthétiste/chanteuse Shannon Hemmett, du batteur Adam Fink et du bassiste Jahmeel Russell. Peu après sa formation, le groupe a commencé à se faire un nom sur la scène live à Vancouver et dans ses environs, et a sorti son premier 7″ Post Traumatic Love/Nightlife via le label local Northern Light Records. Cette année-là, ils ont également publié un EP de remix qui incluait des réinterprétations du single par des groupes comme le groupe canadien Humans et le chanteur russe Felix Bondarev. Ils ont ensuite sorti plusieurs singles de manière indépendante au fil des années suivantes, tout en tournant à travers le Canada et les États-Unis. En 2017, ils ont sorti l’EP Reanimated, qui comprenait des versions remastérisées de plusieurs titres datant de 2012 et au-delà, avant de signer avec le label torontois Artoffact Records. Soon after forming, they began to earn a reputation on the live circuit in and around Vancouver and put out their first 7″, Post Traumatic Love/Nightlife via local label Northern Light Records. That year also saw the appearance of a remix EP which included reworkings of the single from acts such as fellow Canadian outfit Humans and Russian vocalist Felix Bondarev. They went on to independently release several singles throughout the following years while touring throughout Canada and the U.S. 2017 saw the release of the Reanimated EP which featured remastered versions of various tracks from 2012 onward before they signed with the Toronto-based Artoffact Records. They put out their label debut and first full-length, It Will Come to You, in March of 2018.

His folk-inspired sound and ardent lyricism slows down the pace of the world around him to create space for contemplation and expression. Traversing between emblematic and actualized narratives, he sees storytelling as a way to make sense of and connect with both the ordinary and unpredictable moments in life.

Que ce soit en explorant les textures sonores du shoegaze et du dream pop sur son premier album éponyme de 2018, ou en plongeant dans la nature violente du nu-metal sur Squeeze en 2022, elle embrasse également pleinement la nature confessions des auteures-compositrices contemporaines. Avec Blood on the Silver Screen en 2025, elle est devenue une artiste suffisamment assurée pour s’attaquer à la pop mainstream et la soumettre à sa propre vision.

Using the name SASAMI, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Sasami Ashworth crafts music that fearlessly jumps genres, bringing out the best in each one while giving them a very personal stamp. Whether delving deep into the sonic textures of shoegaze and dream pop as on her 2018 self-titled debut album, or exploring the violent nature of nu-metal on 2022’s Squeeze, she fully embraces the confessional nature of contemporary singer/songwriters as well. By the time of 2025’s Blood on the Silver Screen, she had evolved into an artist assured enough to take on mainstream pop and wrestle it into submission.

The Wrecks, originaires de Los Angeles, jouent un rock indie exaltant et mélodique, influencé par l’emo et le punk. Le groupe a rencontré un premier succès avec leur single révélateur de 2016, Favorite Liar, et après une paire d’EP, ils ont signé chez le label Big Noise pour leur album complet Infinitely Ordinary en 2020. Provenant de Thousand Oaks, en Californie, le chanteur/guitariste Nick Anderson, le guitariste Nick Schmidt, le guitariste Westen Weiss, le bassiste Aaron Kelley et le batteur Billy Nally s’étaient à peine formés lorsqu’ils ont eu l’opportunité d’enregistrer quelques jours dans un studio local. En seulement trois jours intenses, ils ont enregistré leur premier EP de 2016, We Are the Wrecks, qui comprenait le single accrocheur Favorite Liar. La chanson a rapidement gagné en popularité en ligne, ce qui a permis aux Wrecks de décrocher des concerts importants en première partie de Paramore et The Struts, ainsi que des créneaux dans des festivals comme Lollapalooza et BottleRock. Los Angeles’ the Wrecks make exuberant, melodic, emo- and punk-influenced indie rock. The group found early success with their 2016 breakout single, “Favorite Liar,” and after a pair of EPs signed to the Big Noise label for their 2020 full-length Infinitely Ordinary. Hailing from Thousand Oaks, California, singer/guitarist Nick Anderson, guitarist Nick Schmidt, guitarist Westen Weiss, bassist Aaron Kelley, and drummer Billy Nally had barely formed when they chanced on the opportunity for a few covert days in a local studio. In just three hectic days, they recorded their 2016 debut EP, We Are the Wrecks, which featured the catchy single “Favorite Liar.” The song picked up steam online and helped the Wrecks land some key gigs opening for Paramore and the Struts along with festival slots at Lollapalooza and BottleRock. A second EP, Panic Vertigo, arrived in 2018, followed in 2020 by the Wrecks’ first LP, Infinitely Ordinary, on the Big Noise imprint.

Darren Kiely, originaire d’Irlande, chante avec une intensité pleine d’âme, écrivant des chansons sincères qui ont des racines dans la musique folk traditionnelle, mais qui s’alignent davantage avec les troubadours modernes de folk-pop comme Hozier et Dermot Kennedy. Ireland’s Darren Kiely sings with soulful grit, writing heartfelt songs that have roots in traditional folk music, but are more aligned with modern folk-pop troubadours like Hozier and Dermot Kennedy. After relocating to New York in 2022, he debuted with the dramatic “How Could You Love Me” and continued building his catalog over the next two years. Tracks like “Ella” and 2023’s “Time to Leave” made the upper reaches of Ireland’s viral charts and in 2024, he released his first EP, From the Dark.

Le groupe de rock anglais Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs (ou PIGSx7) mêle acid rock, psych-metal et influences doom et stoner dans un épais déluge de riffs et de hurlements menaçants. Évoquant une rencontre entre Black Sabbath et Hawkwind sous l’effet d’hallucinogènes particulièrement virulents, PIGSx7 déploie un son massif et percutant, laissant place à l’expérimentation sonore et à des riffs de guitare titanesques, bien que l’écrasante lourdeur de leur musique domine l’ensemble. Sur leur premier album, Feed the Rats (2017), le groupe s’appuyait sur de longues compositions (deux des trois morceaux dépassent les 15 minutes). Avec Viscerals (2020) et Land of Sleeper (2023), leurs titres se sont resserrés, mais la puissance brutale de leur musique est restée intacte, pour le plus grand plaisir des fans.

English rock outfit Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs (or “PIGSx7” for short) combine acid rock, psych-metal, and doom and stoner influences into a thick sludge of riffs and menacing bellows. Suggesting a meeting of the minds between Black Sabbath and Hawkwind under the influence of especially nasty hallucinogens, PIGSx7 generate a burly, hard-hitting sound that makes room for sonic experimentation and gargantuan guitar riffs, though the overwhelming heaviness of their sound is what rules the day. On their debut album, 2017’s Feed the Rats, the group built their music around lengthy performances (two of the set’s three tracks run over 15 minutes). By the time they cut 2020’s Viscerals and 2023’s Land of Sleeper, the songs were more compact, but the aggressive stomp of the band was still as brutal as fans could wish.

Soulside

Soulside est né à Washington, DC, en 1985 — s’est séparé en 1989 — puis est revenu ensemble en 2014. Il n’ont pas arrêté de jouer et d’écrire de la musique depuis. Après avoir sorti leur premier album chez Sammich/Dischord, ils ont enregistré Trigger (Dischord, 1988) et Hot Bodi-Gram (Dischord, 1989), qui ont été réunis sur le CD Soon Come Happy en 1990. Le groupe a effectué de nombreuses tournées aux États-Unis et en Europe au cours de ces années, y compris des concerts en Pologne et à Berlin-Est en 1989, juste avant la chute du mur de Berlin. Soon Come Happy a été remastérisé en 2003. En 2020, Soulside sortait This Ship, leur premier 7’’ depuis 30 ans, enregistré à Prague.

Soulside formed in Washington, DC, in 1985, split up in 1989, then reformed in 2014 and has continued playing and writing music since then. The band toured extensively in the US and Europe during these years, including groundbreaking shows in Poland and East Berlin shortly before the Berlin Wall fell in 1989.  In 2020, Soulside put out a new 7-inch, This Ship, their first release in 30 years, which was recorded in Prague. Happy”, released in 1990 and re-mastered in 2003.

Scream

Scream voit le jour en 1979. Le batteur Kent Stacks, le bassiste Skeeter Enoch Thompson et les frères Pete et Franz Stahl vont à l’école ensemble à Bailey’s Crossroads, en Virginie, lorsqu’ils commencent à découvrir la scène punk et new wave de Washington et le pouvoir provocateur de la musique. Comme la plupart des groupes punk de Washington, ils sont influencés par Bad Brains, mais ils se distinguent par leur sensibilité rock n’ roll. En 1982, ils se rendent au studio Inner Ear avec Ian MacKaye et Eddie Janney pour enregistrer le premier album complet de Dischord, Still Screaming. Le groupe a depuis connu quelques changements, notamment l’ajout de leur ami Harley Davidson à la seconde guitare, et, lorsque Kent Stacks a quitté le groupe pour fonder une famille, ils ont demandé à un jeune batteur local, Dave Grohl, de prendre la relève. Scream formed in 1979. In 1996, at a Christmas reunion show, Kent Stacks returned as Scream’s drummer; the show was recorded and released as the CD “Live at the Black Cat.” Over the next few years, everyone branched out in different directions – Franz joined the Foo Fighters for a short period and Pete played with Goatsnake and earthlings? The band returned as a unit, with Clint Walsh on second guitar, in 2011 to record the Complete Control Sessions, which was released as an EP on Side One Dummy and was, until now, the band’s most recent release.

Hans Williams at the Ritz PDB

Hans Williams is a 21-year-old independent singer-songwriter from Norwich, Vermont. First releasing music in third grade when he would hand out CDs after school, Hans fell in love with songwriting as a means of expression. After uploading a couple of songs on Spotify in high school, Hans quickly amassed over a million streams before graduating.

In 2020, Hans debuted “Body on My Shoulders,” reflecting on his experience as a first responder to a floormate’s suicide in the first few days of freshmen year at Tulane University, which has since become a mutually therapeutic anthem for Williams, the Tulane community, and beyond.

Hans Williams est un auteur-compositeur-interprète indépendant de 21 ans originaire de Norwich, dans le Vermont. Il a commencé à publier de la musique en troisième année, lorsqu’il distribuait des CD après l’école, et est tombé amoureux de l’écriture de chansons comme moyen d’expression. Après avoir téléchargé quelques chansons sur Spotify au lycée, Hans a rapidement accumulé plus d’un million de streams avant d’obtenir son diplôme.

En 2020, Hans a lancé “Body on My Shoulders”, une réflexion sur son expérience en tant que premier intervenant lors du suicide d’un camarade de classe dans les premiers jours de l’année de première année à l’université de Tulane, qui est depuis devenu un hymne thérapeutique mutuel pour Williams, la communauté de Tulane et au-delà.

Kaleida are the transatlantic duo whose darkly mystic soundworld finds glimmers of hope in the disquiet.
Spanning two continents and one ocean, the pair have nurtured a long distance partnership that withstands the shifting patterns of life. They first formed in 2013 when a friend introduced them over email. Christina Wood was then working as an environmental consultant in the Indonesian forest while recording demos in her bedroom each night, and Cicely Goulder had been composing for film productions in London. Despite the miles between them, they found an instant musical chemistry.

Kaleida est un duo transatlantique dont le monde sonore sombre et mystique trouve des lueurs d’espoir dans l’inquiétude.
S’étendant sur deux continents et un océan, le duo a nourri un partenariat à distance qui résiste aux schémas changeants de la vie. Ils se sont formés pour la première fois en 2013, lorsqu’un ami les a présentés par courriel. Christina Wood travaillait alors comme consultante en environnement dans la forêt indonésienne tout en enregistrant des démos dans sa chambre chaque soir, et Cicely Goulder avait composé pour des productions cinématographiques à Londres. Evangelia a grandi en faisant la navette entre la petite ferme de sa grand-mère sur l’île grecque de Crète et la maison de ses parents dans le New Jersey, sur la côte est américaine – deux mondes musicaux complètement différents, qui ont tous deux influencé son style. Une chanson d’Evangelia mélange la musique pop moderne avec les sons de ses racines grecques, des rythmes de club contemporains et des mélodies accrocheuses. En fusionnant la culture pop américaine avec des éléments grecs traditionnels, Evangelia rend hommage à ses ancêtres tout en créant son propre héritage. Son art s’adresse aux gens par le biais d’un message de confiance en l’amour de soi, de quelqu’un d’autre et de ce qui est le plus important pour soi.

Evangelia grew up commuting between her grandmother’s small farm on the Greek island of Crete and her parents’ home in New Jersey on the American East Coast – two completely different musical worlds, both of which influenced her style. An Evangelia song blends modern pop music with sounds from her Greek roots, contemporary club beats and catchy melodies. By fusing American pop culture with traditional Greek elements, Evangelia honors her ancestors while also creating a legacy of her own. Her art connects to people through a message of being confidently in love with yourself, with someone else, and with what is most important to you.
