The list could be much longer, but since the vast majority of music fans know only a thin layer of the late Wayne Shorter’s immense discography, here is a selection of 12 albums by the master, either under his own signature or that of Weather Report, which he co-directed with Jozef Zawinul. Of course, that this does not include the recordings of the Miles Davis Quintet, of which he was the most important composer, or of the Jazz Messengers who welcomed him as a young prodigy of modern jazz, under the guidance of Art Blakey.
