DEAS – Form Follow Function

· by Salima Bouaraour

Without a doubt, it is at night that this kind of music reveals all its splendor. This quintessence of sounds eagerly comforting is revealed under the soft lights within the community of the night owls. We curl up with each other listening to this music, dreaming of a better world, more united, more fair for all. The techno of DEAS comes from the depths of Krakow (Poland), where history and climate are the fertile ground of a cold, noisy, post-indus techno. However, it has the power to warm up the concrete warehouses, where the dance takes all its rights, like a revenge on the society. The EP, “Form Follow Function’, released last October, is a pure techno beauty. The 133BPM rhythmic pulses compete with the subtly reverberated synth notes, while sweeping the electrified texture under an echoing background. Added to this, the sounds, both tortuous and melodic, which blend perfectly with the rolling kicks. The whole gives the perfect illusion of being buried in a machine where the sound of the mechanics magnetizes you endlessly.
