Recorded in part in Montreal, the collective’s first work stirs a shadowy tension across the skin of an inner world rendered in chiaroscuro. Amid the post-punk, lo-fi and industrial motorik emerges the psychobilly voice of Alex Zhang Hungtai, a haunting crooner who shepherds this atavistic reverie, exhuming Les Rallizes Dénudés and Françoise Hardy. A concept album laced with apparitions, stranded strains of poetry, rebellion and solitude.
