La série Les profs de l’UdeM en concert propose des rendez-vous de haut niveau vous permettant d’apprécier gratuitement leur maestria et la finesse de leur jeu, dans des œuvres de musique de chambre. Et pour les étudiantes et étudiants qui aspirent poursuivre leurs parcours à la Faculté de musique, ces concerts inspirants sont des occasions privilégiées de voir et d’entendre leur futur prof.

The Les profs de l’UdeM en concert series offers high-level concerts where audiences can freely enjoy their mastery and the subtlety of their playing in chamber music works. Joe Bocan à la Cinquième Salle – Insoumise

Avec Insoumise, Joe Bocan fait un grand retour sur scène en solo. Dans l’élaboration de ce spectacle qui souligne aussi ses 40 ans de carrière, elle s’entoure de créateurs de la nouvelle génération qui lui permettent d’explorer toutes les facettes de sa démesure. Joe Bocan n’a jamais craint de se montrer authentique et ce n’est pas à 66 ans qu’elle s’empêchera d’être audacieuse, sexy, provocante. Artiste engagée fidèle à elle-même, Joe Bocan revisite son répertoire en offrant ses grands succès dans un nouvel écrin, comme elle a su si bien le faire avec Apocalypso et Les femmes voilées dans le spectacle Pour une histoire d’un soir. Elle propose aussi les nouvelles chansons de son album qui paraîtra à l’automne 2024, où elle aborde des thèmes actuels vus à travers son propre regard. De belles surprises nous attendent aussi avec des interprétations de chansons connues que l’on croirait écrites pour elle, tant elles lui collent à la peau. Durant ce spectacle, Joe incarne aussi d’autres femmes, d’autres histoires, d’autres vies. Et pour leur donner la parole, elle nous fait entrer dans leur univers le temps d’un court monologue, d’un personnage, d’une chanson. Insoumise est un spectacle théâtral, à l’image de Joe Bocan. Il porte la signature d’une artiste profondément moderne, d’une femme inspirée et indépendante qui défie les interdits avec passion. Voir Joe Bocan en spectacle est une expérience en soi ! With Insoumise, Joe Bocan makes a grand solo return to the stage. In creating this show, which also celebrates her 40-year career, she surrounds herself with a new generation of creators who help her explore every facet of her boldness. OSM : Haydn et Chostakovitch – un saisissant contraste

Haydn a joué un rôle fondamental dans l’évolution du quatuor à cordes, et dans son dernier Quatuor op. 77 n^o 2, il se livre à des expérimentations subtiles avec finesse et inventivité. Chostakovitch, quant à lui, revisite les formes classiques dans son Quintette, avec un langage très personnel et une grande intensité émotionnelle.

Haydn played a key role in the evolution of the string quartet, and his final Quartet Op. 77  No. 2 is full of subtle experimentation that is both inventive and elegant. Meanwhile, Shostakovich reinterprets classical forms in his Quintet, infusing it with his deeply personal language and profound emotional intensity.

OM : Valses allemandes et Psaumes latins à la Maison symphonique

Pour cette 10e édition de ses concerts Opus, le Chœur Métropolitain propose de grandes œuvres chorales de Stravinsky et Brahms, accompagnées par deux pianistes, Jennifer Bourdages et Louise Pelletier. Dans sa Symphonie des Psaumes très rythmée, Stravinsky puise son inspiration à la fois dans des sonorités byzantines, très orientales, et dans l’héritage musical de l’Occident latin et du chant grégorien. Les Liebeslieder-Walzer et les Neue Liebeslieder de Brahms sont quant à elles des œuvres typiquement romantiques, dans les deux sens du terme. En effet, ces chansons d’amour dont les textes sont inspirés d’airs folkloriques de différentes régions européennes sont mises en musique dans un style qui, bien qu’inspiré du roi de la valse autrichienne Johann Strauss, porte résolument la signature romantique de Brahms.

For the 10th edition of its Opus concert series, the Choeur Métropolitain presents great choral works by Stravinsky and Brahms, accompanied by two pianists, Jennifer Bourdages et Louise Pelletier. In his highly rhythmic Symphony of Psalms, Stravinsky drew inspiration from both the Eastern sounds of Byzantine music and the musical traditions of the Latin West, including Gregorian chant. Brahms’s Liebeslieder-Walzer and Neue Liebeslieder are romantic in every sense of the word. Drawing on texts inspired by European folk traditions, these love songs are composed in a style that, while influenced by the Austrian waltz king Johann Strauss, bears Brahms’s unmistakably Romantic signature.

Kimi Djabaté at Balattou and Small World Center

Kimi Djabaté is a singer, multi-instrumentalist, and composer from Guinea-Bissau whose music weaves a vibrant connection between the griot traditions of West Africa and contemporary influences. Born in the village of Tabato into a renowned family of jeli musicians, he grew up to the rhythm of the balafon and the kora before expanding his universe to include the guitar and percussion.

This profound cultural heritage nourishes a musical expression that is both authentic and universal, imbued with emotion and spirituality. At nineteen, he began international tours with the National Ensemble of Music and Dance of Guinea-Bissau, then settled in Lisbon, where he became a major figure on the Afro-Portuguese scene. Throughout his career, he collaborated with artists such as Mory Kanté, Waldemar Bastos, Netos de Gumbé, and Madonna.

His repertoire blends gumbé, afrobeat, morna, blues, and folk to explore themes of freedom, resilience, and human connection. On stage, Kimi Djabaté exudes a warm and generous presence, captivating the audience with his groove, expressive voice, and sense of sharing.
