INFINI 8: Le Couleur, Ormiston, Paupière, Radiant Baby and Russell Louder at Société des Arts Technologiques

by Rédaction PAN M 360

Lisbon Lux Records is proud to present INFINI 8 projections, for the label’s 8th anniversary.

For this mini virtual festival, there will be 5 performances from fabulous artists and 5 different stages set by Pestacle.

You’ll see and hear these Lisbon Lux artists :

Le Couleur

Montreal trio Le Couleur, created by Laurence Giroux-Do (vocals), Patrick Gosselin (bass), and Steeven Chouinard (drums), delivers rich and irresistibly danceable performances.

In the album’s music, we find vintage influences, recalling the faded charm of 70s erotica, warm tones also rooted in psychedelia, disco, yéyé, and French chanson.

Radiant Baby

Radiant Baby, aka Félix Mongeon, comes from the Montreal music scene. His most recent album, Pantomime, draws inspiration from 70s vintage, passing through glam rock, punk, disco, and new wave. The fiery and rough energy of his music cultivates paradoxes, juxtaposing vulnerable, melancholic, and romantic ambiance, similar to artists such as Bowie, Blondie, Suicide, Pulp, and Serge Gainsbourg.

Ormiston

Ormiston is the solo project of Montreal born Nicola Ormiston. Singer-songwriter and producer of a sunny and laidback sound, somewhere between indie-pop, chillwave, and yacht rock where you can find influences from Toro Y Moi, MGMT, and electro-disco.

Russell Louder

Russell Louder (they/them) is a trans artist originally from Prince Edward Island, living part-time in Montreal and Charlottetown. They make electro-pop that’s carried by a powerful clear voice reminiscent of Florence and the Machine, London Grammar, Austra, Eurythmics, or La Roux. You only have to see Russell Louder in concert once to fall for the luminous and authentic world they built, both poignant and danceable, just like their music.

Paupière

Paupière

Mixing British synth-pop and French songs, Paupière is a “neo-romantic” band. Now led by Julia Daigle (visual artist) and Pierre-Luc Bégin (Polipe, We Are Wolves), they are a glamorous and flamboyant Montreal duo with an underground sensuality that creates a pop that is both naïve and profound. If one can hear echoes of Human League, Deux or Depeche Mode, their intertwined voices sing of the adolescent and hedonistic romanticism of the 80’s as much as contemporary disenchantment.

Boulila & Friends au Club Balattou

by Rédaction PAN M 360

The Boulila project is a quartet that plays Gnawa fusion music from Morocco; inspired by the great gwana masters like Mustapha Bakbou and Hmida Boussou.

A vibrant saxophone that jazzes up the dry and bewitching strings of the guembri; an atmosphere that oscillates, in a complex intermingling of rhythms, between Gnawa mysticism and the exaltation of improvisation: one can well imagine the vibe of the winner of the 14th edition of the Syli d’Or de la musique du monde 2021 animating, at dusk, the typical alleys of the medinas of Marrakech. “The young sextet Boulila serves up a fusion of gnawa music, jazz and funk that will make you dream of the outdoor stages of the big festivals, where the solid band is sure to shine” (Le Devoir, 2021).

Boulila, winner of the Syli d’Or in 2021, will take you on a journey through African sounds in a mystical atmosphere.  Discover the mystical sound of the guembri and the trance-like rhythms of the crotales!

Lou Laurence at Quai des Brumes

by Rédaction PAN M 360

Don’t come to her shows to mosh; come to make out, to laugh, to write a letter, to hear a story, and to leave with a story to tell. Come to have a time.

Don’t come to her shows to mosh; come to make out, to laugh, to write a letter, to hear a story, and to leave with a story to tell. Come to have a time.

Lou is tall, but her voice is taller. Her vocal style has been described as a blend of Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, and more recently, Billie Holiday.

Lou Laurence’s style is jazzy blues-pop. Her songs combine simple blues-style dialogue with humor, love, and a deep, sweet, soul.

Her big vocal sound is accompanied by rhythmic home-modified baritone ukuleles (acoustic and electric).

Lou has played everywhere from large festivals to Montreal metro stations; dirty pubs to classy corporate gigs. Her performances combine storytelling with her songs rooted in raw emotion, witty lyrics, and catchy melodies.
