Poétique, Groovy, Funk par moment et Soul dans son ensemble, Yao, de sa voix grave, réussit à charmer par l’univers chaleureux de sa douce poésie et par son audace artistique. Son écriture imagée – empreinte d’une très grande sensibilité – nous rappelle la richesse textuelle du rap français de MC Solaar, d’Abdel Malik ou d’Oxmo Puccino, avec un côté pop éclectique – où les univers musicaux se succèdent et s’entrelacent à travers les frasques de ce poète. Emmy Rouge est une artiste émergente âgée 24 ans originaire de la ville de Québec. Son tout premier projet intitulé Catalogue est une introduction tout à fait à l’image de son univers musical et stylistique. En mélangeant ses influences du French Pop, du R&B et du jazz, Emmy Rouge s’est donné la mission de séduire son public. Ce mini album se veut simple et sensuel dans son intention, mais en y conservant des détails musicaux recherchés pour ceux des plus mélomanes. La jeune artiste, à la voix douce, chaleureuse et veloutée chante des textes légers, nonchalants et particulièrement accrocheurs. Mademoiselle Rouge saura surprendre son auditoire du fait de son caractère coloré. Teinté de nombreuses couleurs analogiques tirées des synthétiseurs et des boîtes à rythmes des années 70 et 80, ce projet est une trame sonore festive, sensuelle et pétillante qui saura vous envoûter.

Emmy Rouge is a 24 year old emerging artist from Quebec City. Her very first project entitled Catalogue is an introduction to her musical and stylistic universe. By mixing her influences of French Pop, R&B and jazz, Emmy Rouge has given herself the mission to seduce her audience. This mini album is simple and sensual in its intention, but with musical details for those who are more music lovers. The young artist, with her soft, warm and velvety voice, sings light, nonchalant and particularly catchy lyrics. Mademoiselle Rouge will surprise her audience with her colorful character. Tinted with many analogical colors drawn from the synthesizers and the rhythm boxes of the 70s and 80s, this project is a festive, sensual and sparkling soundtrack which will be able to bewitch you.

Shostakovich composed his Fifth Symphony in anguish, an astonishing work that flourished under the threat of Soviet repression. The elegant Petite Suite by French impressionist Germaine Tailleferre opens with the sparkling colors of the Group of Six, in a deliberately light style.

Résidant de Nashville et originaire de l’Ontario, au Canada, Tebey est un artiste certifié platine, un producteur primé et un auteur-compositeur accompli, dont le répertoire compte de nombreuses chansons numéro 1. Son nom très mal prononcé (lire : TAY-bay) est d’origine nigériane – le lieu de naissance de son père, mais Tebey a grandi dans la petite ville de Peterborough et a fait ses études secondaires à Burlington. Tout en connaissant un succès simultané sur le terrain de football, son père et lui ont décidé de déménager à Nashville au milieu de son adolescence pour y poursuivre sa carrière musicale.

Nashville resident and Ontario, Canada native, Tebey, is a platinum selling artist, award-winning producer and accomplished songwriter with multiple #1 songs in his repertoire of hits. His much-mispronounced name (read: TAY-bay) is of Nigerian descent – his father’s birthplace, but Tebey grew up in the small town of Peterborough and went to high school in Burlington. Gawbé

Gawbé est un projet de rock alternatif francophone posé, bien ancré dans la ville de Québec. Comme un îlot de fraicheur pour la jeunesse urbaine, Gabrielle Côté y raconte ses histoires populaires et intimes avec une attitude décomplexée et entrainante. Elle y partage ses paroles crues et imagées avec un timbre de voix bien à elle : sensible dans ses aigus, puis chaud et relâché dans ses graves.

Gawbé is a french-speaking alternative rock project firmly rooted in Quebec City. Like an island of freshness for urban youth, Gabrielle Côté tells her relatable and intimate stories with a relaxed and lively attitude. She shares her colorful lyrics with a voice that is very much her own: sensitive in its high notes, and warm and relaxed in its low ones.

Olivier Pépin est Jalouse – demandez-lui pourquoi. Polymathe en activités parallèles depuis deux décennies, le Montréalais s’est notamment fait connaître comme directeur musical et accompagnateur de Pierre Kwenders.

Olivier Pépin is Jalouse – ask him why. The Montrealer first made a name for himself as a musical director and multi-instrumentalist for Pierre Kwenders. Olivier Pépin incarnates the word polymath.

Perséide

 Autant introspectif que lumineux, le voyage que propose la bande composée de Louis-Philippe Cantin, Olivier Durand, Daniel Quirion, Samuel Milette et Adrien Lauture est éclectique et tire ses influences autant de la pop-psyché des sixties, de l’univers acid-folk des ménestrels du flower-power ou encore de l’hypnotisme du kosmische allemand. Sous le couvert de textes au lexique envoûtant, Perséide encourage à croquer dans le fruit en traitant d’évasion, de quête de liberté et d’abandon de soi.

 As introspective as it is luminous, the journey offered by the band composed of Louis-Philippe Cantin, Olivier Durand, Daniel Quirion, Samuel Milette and Adrien Lauture is eclectic and draws its influences as much from 60’s psych-pop, acid-folk of flower-power minstrels and hypnotism of the German kosmische scene. Under the cover of a bewitching lexicon, Perséide inspires to bite into the forbidden fruit as they sing about escapism, quest for freedom and unconstraint.

Jean-Michel Pilc Quartet au Dièse Onze

Pianiste de renommée internationale, ayant bâti sa réputation au cours de 20 ans de résidence New Yorkaise et au fil de nombreuses tournées autour du globe, Jean-Michel Pilc réside à Montréal depuis 2015 et enseigne le jazz et l’improvisation à l’Université McGill. Un musicien et compositeur d’une profonde originalité, il vient de sortir son 4ème album en solo, “Parallel” (Challenge Records). Improvisateur sans barrière, ses prestations sont toujours intenses, imprévisibles et de haute volée. “Ses riches réinventions harmoniques de standards que vous croyiez connaître montrent clairement son génie musical.” – Eric Brace, The Washington Post “Un pianiste éblouissant et inventif.” – Nate Chinen, The New York Times

Jean-Michel Pilc (born 1960 in Paris, France) is a self-taught jazz pianist currently residing in Montreal. His technical ability has drawn comparisons to Michel Petrucciani, McCoy Tyner, and Cecil Taylor. Of particular note is Pilc’s left-hand technique, which provides an almost ambidextrous approach to the keyboard. In addition to his own projects, he is a member of a group led by drummer Ari Hoenig.

Arielle Soucy

Arielle Soucy est une chanteuse, multi-instrumentiste, auteure et compositrice montréalaise active depuis 2019. La douceur qui émane de la musique d’Arielle Soucy possède quelque chose de lumineux et de bienveillant. Cette fusion douce-amère entre soul et folk psychédélique, menée par de magnifiques arrangements vocaux, brille dans sa musique.

Arielle-Soucy is a trained singer, instrumentalist, author and composer active since 2019 in Montreal. Soothing and benignant, her music reveals a peculiar glance on soul and psychedelic-folk, led by aerial vocal arrangements and minimalistic, yet impressive acoustic guitar playing.

Vanille

Vanille est le projet de l’auteure-compositrice-interprète Rachel Leblanc fondé en 2017. Le projet fait paraître un premier album francophone intitulé Soleil ‘96 en 2021. Cet album de rock alternatif direct et énergique permet à Rachel de se tailler une place de choix dans le paysage musical québécois.

Vanille is the project of the singer and songwriter, Rachel Leblanc, founded in 2017. In 2021, she came out with her first french album Soleil’96. This direct and energetic alternative rock album allows Rachel to carve out a place of choice in the Quebec musical landscape.

Allô Fantôme

Allô Fantôme est le nom de scène de l’auteur-compositeur-interprète Samuel Gendron. Tel que vu sur les planches des demi-finales des Francouvertes, le groupe de huit musiciens émérites propose un concert ultra dynamique aux accents désaxés. Inspirée de l’extravagance des années 70, la musique d’Allô Fantôme regorge d’arrangements amples et riches, de progressions harmoniques raffinées et d’une énergie débordante, le tout dans un enrobage rock déjanté, à la fois théâtral, maximaliste et ô combien le fun.

Allô Fantôme is young singer-songwriter Samuel Gendron’s stage name. The eight piece band offers a mighty and dynamic performance, highly inspired by 70’s extravaganza. Gendron’s music overflows with rich arrangements, refined harmonic progressions and boundless energy, that translates into a theatrical, maximalist and charming rock act. 

Totalement Sublime

Totalement Sublime est le nouveau projet de Marc-Antoine Barbier (Choses Sauvages) et Élie Raymond (Foreign Diplomats). Le projet francophone peint des environnements contemplatifs, traitant de sujets comme la fatigue, la chaleur ou encore la nostalgie. Ensemble, ils expérimentent des arrangements éclectiques, empruntant à la musique japonaise des années 80 (Yasuaki Shimizu, Ryuichi Sakamoto) ainsi qu’à l’avant-garde new-yorkaise (Philip Glass, Arthur Russell, Gray).

JOLY

JOLY se démarque par sa musique lourde et son timbre de voix unique qui s’inspire d’arrangements folk, de saveurs rock et de texte emo. C’est avec son premier EP Au plus bas (2017) que le projet solo de Marc-Antoine Joly fait ses débuts après plusieurs années à faire de la pige pour divers artistes de la francophonie canadienne. 

JOLY has marked his place in the francophone music industry by showcasing his unique vocals over heavy rock yet contrasting folk arrangements. After several years of freelancing for various artists in the Canadian french community, Marc-Antoine Joly made his solo debut with his first EP “Au plus bas” in 2017, reaching number 7 on the iTunes francophone charts. 

Motherhood

Le trio néo-brunswickois Motherhood a réussi à accomplir un exploit rare, mais pourtant simple: ils sont aussi exaltants sur disque que sur scène. Contrairement à plusieurs tentatives maladroites de la part de leurs collègues et de groupes rock soi-disant aventuriers, la musique de Motherhood déborde d’un charme et d’une exubérance que l’on ne peut commander. 

A trio of deep-thinkin’ rippers, New Brunswick’s Motherhood achieve one very rare and uncomplicated feat: they sound EXCITING on record and stage alike. Capharnaüm artistique, électro aimant à courant alternatif, complexe et déroutant… les qualificatifs ne manquent pas pour tenter de décrire VioleTT Pi, cette indescriptible bibitte. Le chanteur-compositeur étonne et détonne à chacune de ses prestations… laisse derrière lui un mélange confus de fascination et de surprise. Artiste habité, sincère et dévoué, il vous surprendra.

Artistic capharnaum, electro AC magnet, complex and confusing… there’s no shortage of adjectives to try and describe VioleTT Pi, this indescribable bugaboo. The singer-songwriter amazes and detracts with each of his performances… leaving behind a confusing mix of fascination and surprise. An inhabited, sincere and dedicated artist, he will surprise you.

Rip Pop Mutant

Alexander Ortiz n’a jamais suivi de cours de musique et il ne sait ni lire ni écrire une seule note, ce qui ne l’a pas empêché de co-fonder le groupe électro-punk We Are Wolves en 2000, de sortir 5 albums, plusieurs EP et simples, sans compter des centaines de concerts à travers le monde, dont certains en compagnie de International Noise Conspiracy, And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Death From Above 1979, Bloc Party, Gorillaz et Indochine… Voilà où ça mène de ne pas suivre de cours de musique ! DIY à l’os, toujours actif au sein des WAW, mène en parallèle quatre autres projets musicaux, dont Rip Pop Mutant, sa première véritable proposition en solo. 

Alexander Ortiz never took music lessons and doesn’t know how to read or write a single note. This didn’t stop him from co-founding the electro-punk group We Are Wolves in 2000. Since then, the band has released five albums and several EPs and singles, along with performing hundreds of times alongside International Noise Conspiracy, …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Death From Above 1979, Bloc Party, Gorillaz, and Indochine… So much for music lessons! DIY to the bone, the former arts student, still active within the WAW, has four other musical projects, including RIP Pop Mutant, his first real solo project.

Electric Neon Clouds

Après avoir fait plus de 350 spectacles à travers le Canada, Jérémy Cornellier renaît en 2018 sous l’essence d’Electric Neon Clouds, son alter-ego artistique. L’univers d’Electric Neon Clouds est à la fois excentrique et grandement soigné, un peu comme la haute-couture de la musique. Le projet trouve définitivement sa place dans le courant art-pop.

After having performed more than 350 shows all across Canada, Jeremy Cornellier was reborn in 2018 under the essence of Electric Neon Clouds, his artistic alter-ego. The universe of Electric Neon Clouds is both eccentric and highly polished, much like the haute-couture of music. The project definitely finds its place in the art-pop trend.

LYD. c’est le tout récent projet solo d’Ann-Lydia Plourde. Viscérale, explosive, féminine, elle nous sert une musique pour amateurs de franco-pop-électro-808-sad.

Russell Louder

Russell Louder  (il/they/them)  est un auteur-compositeur, producteur et interprète né et élevé à Epekwitk (I-P-E, CA). Sa musique est portée par une puissante voix claire qui rappelle Florence and the Machine, London Grammar, Austra, Eurythmics ou encore La Roux.  Il suffit de voir Russell Louder une seule fois en concert pour être conquis par l’univers lumineux et authentique qu’il propose, à la fois poignant et dansant.  

Russell Louder (they/them) is a songwriter, producer and performer born and raised in Epekwitk (PEI, Canada). Their music is carried by a powerful clear voice reminiscent of Florence and the Machine, London Grammar, Austra, Eurythmics or La Roux. Beau Nectar is a collaboration between two bilingual singer-songwriters separated by kilometers of forests, rivers, mountains and prairies. Marie-Clo, Franco-Ontarian, and éemi, Fransaskoise deliver intimate, vibrant and surreal synth pop with eco-feminist lyrics that spark their fans’ empathy towards nature.

BAIE is the pop/disco project of Chloé Breault, Matt Boudreau and Marc-André Boudreau. The group was created to experiment with musical ideas that the artists do not use in their solo careers. BAIE is a way for them to break out of their usual mold.
