Deeply rooted in tradition, it is carried on the waves of the guembri’s bass tones and the percussive clacking of the qraqeb, and amplified by liberating trance-inducing rhythms that are both festive and healing. Winner of the 2020 Syli d’or de la Musique du Monde Award, Boulila reinvigorates the Gnawa genre with a combination of guitar, sax, bass, piano and drums, revealing the African spirit of Western popular music.
