Invent Animate

Texas metalcore combo Invent Animate rose in the mid-2010s with an intricate, technically dazzling sound that incorporated djent, ambient, progressive metal, and post-hardcore. While enduring a handful of membership changes, they earned a reputation for detailed studio craft on albums like 2016’s Stillworld and 2020’s Greyview while also cementing a legacy as a fierce live act. After three albums on Tragic Hero, they signed with Australia’s UNFD and released 2023’s Heavener.

Silent Planet

Silent Planet are a Los Angeles-based metalcore band whose music embraces dynamics swinging from quiet, atmospheric contemplation to a full-on sonic assault, and whose lyrics offer a thoughtful view of the challenges of life in a destructive, chaotic world. Though group leader Garrett Russell is a Christian, he’s firmly rejected classifying Silent Planet as a Christian band, saying his lyrics are thematically diverse and strive to ask questions rather than provide easy answers. The group stormed out of the gate with a challenging attack on 2014’s The Night God Slept, and added more complex structures and increased use of electronics with 2018’s When The End Began and 2023’s Superbloom.
