Scène Spotify - Montréal Gratuit
· by Rédaction PAN M 360

Safia Nolin, a singular figure in the contemporary artistic landscape, embodies a powerful political voice. Her journey is one of identity, an exploration of difference and marginality. As a racialized, queer, and artistically non-conforming woman, she challenges societal norms and expectations. Her aesthetic—both raw and poetic—is a celebration of imperfection and authenticity.
In her new album, UFO RELIGION, Nolin conveys a profound sense of alienation and a longing to escape a world that fails to recognize her. Through minimalist melodies and stripped-down instrumentation, she presents an introspective work where melancholy and hope intertwine. Nature—both a refuge and a source of inspiration—emerges as a central character in the album, offering a counterbalance to human disconnection.
Recorded in the heart of nature, this project carries a visceral urgency. It reflects a transformative process—an artistic rebirth. Like a chrysalis about to emerge, Nolin breaks free of her constraints and asserts herself fully. Her music, at the crossroads of folk, grunge, and stoner rock, invites listeners on an inner journey—a call to live authentically.
