Thu 19 Jun 2025 • 07:00 pm Funk / Hip Hop / R&B
Scène Spotify - Montréal Gratuit
· by Rédaction PAN M 360

In 1993, BARNEV took his first steps into the music industry, making a lasting impression by lending his smooth voice to the unforgettable chorus of “Soul Pleureur,” a classic track by Dubmatique released in 1997. A few years later, he co-founded the R&B trio NoDéjà. Many still remember their single “Quelque chose about you.” In 1999, BARNEV joined Céline Dion’s team as a backing vocalist, and to this day—nearly twenty-five years later—he continues to perform alongside the global superstar, having sung for over 8 million people. Over the years, BARNEV has also collaborated with numerous artists from a variety of backgrounds, including Isabelle Boulay, David Usher, OneNessa, and Philippe Dunnigan.
BARNEV has created a dynamic album that blends funky hip-hop rhythms with French-language pop melodies, paying tribute to the golden age of funk and soul. The songs explore themes of love, desire, and empowerment through soulful vocals. Groovy basslines, catchy guitar riffs, and contemporary production round out this musical fusion. For this project, BARNEV sought out the right songwriters to bring his musical vision to life. Once he found his team, they worked tirelessly to express ideas and explore various creative paths. The team even drew inspiration by retreating to a chalet north of Montreal, immersing themselves in nature to shape the album.
