Festival Vibrations | The Big Band Receives Catina DeLuna and Otmaro Ruiz Duo

In this concert with a South American flavour, two internationally renowned artists, Brazilian singer Catina DeLuna and Venezuelan pianist Otmaro Ruíz, will join the young virtuoso instrumentalists of the UdeM Big Band. Catina DeLuna is renowned for her rich, colorful voice, with its nostalgic charm. An eclectic musician, Otmaro Ruíz has performed all over the world, approaching rock, fusion, jazz and Latin music with equal pleasure. An evening not to be missed!

The Faculty of Music is supported by the Sophie Desmarais Fund for the Université de Montréal Big Band.

During their stay at the Faculty of Music, Catina DeLuna and Otmaro Ruiz will offer a free public masterclass together on Wednesday, November 29, 4 p.m., in Salle Claude-Champagne.

Vibrations! Festival
From November 23 to December 2, the Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Music presents the 3rd edition of its annual festival. 7 major events will showcase the talent of the Faculty’s students, faculty and ensembles in residence. Through a rich and diversified program, different musical disciplines meet at the Faculty, Salle Bourgie, Livart and Club Soda.

Lors de ce concert aux accents sud-américains, deux artistes de réputation internationale, la chanteuse brésilienne Catina DeLuna et le pianiste vénézuélien Otmaro Ruíz, se joindront aux jeunes instrumentistes virtuoses du Big Band de l’UdeM. Catina DeLuna est reconnue pour sa voix riche et colorée, dont le charme possède une touche de nostalgie. Musicien éclectique, Otmaro Ruíz s’est produit à travers le monde, abordant le rock, la fusion, le jazz et la musique latine avec un égal bonheur. Une soirée à ne pas manquer!

La Faculté de musique bénéficie du soutien du fonds Sophie Desmarais pour le Big Band de l’Université de Montréal.

Durant leur séjour à la Faculté de musique, Catina DeLuna et Otmaro Ruiz offriront ensemble un cours de maître public gratuit le mercredi 29 novembre 16 h, à la salle Claude-Champagne.

Du 23 novembre au 2 décembre, la Faculté de musique de l’Université de Montréal présente la 3e édition de son festival annuel. À cette occasion, 7 grands événements mettront en lumière le talent des étudiantes et étudiants de la Faculté, de son corps enseignant et d’ensembles en résidence. À travers une programmation riche et diversifiée, les différentes disciplines musicales se rencontrent à la Faculté, à la Salle Bourgie, au Livart et au Club Soda.
