Melody Gardot is a musician of rare and remarkable sensitivity and balance. She is a singer whose voice is instantly recognizable, distinguished by haunting delicacy and penetrating, emotional precision. She is a songwriter whose melodies define an equilibrium of lyrical economy and lush, passionate sweep. She is a recording artist who has mastered the use of the studio, crafting a musical identity while experimenting in various recording approaches and musical styles, producing albums of astonishing consistency — an achievement that began at the very outset of her career. Of countless vocalists on the scene today, there are but a handful who attained all three of these musical peaks. Twenty years since she launched her career, Melody Gardot today sits in the top tier of this rare company, a singer whose music has achieved popular impact and won mainstream appeal.
