The Vancouver group gives new meaning to the word “fast” on this album. Singer Oliver Rae Aleron delivers his lyrics to at a machine-gun tempo and the musicians torpedo the eardrums with a cavalcade of notes, but that doesn’t prevent Archspire from being classified as technical death metal, and even progressive metal, thanks to the introspective bass lines that allow the occasional moment of respite. It’s this ability to merge technical prowess and speed that allows Archspire and their third record to stand out.
