Kasador

Le groupe Kasador de Kingston, en Ontario, n’a jamais eu peur du changement. Et les trois amis au cœur de Kasador – Cameron Wyatt (chant/guitare), Boris Baker (basse) et Stephen Adubofuor (batterie) – en ont vécu beaucoup. Ils ont tissé des années de tumulte en quelque chose de puissant et de réel : un groupe de rock and roll soudé, sincère et bienveillant, en plein sprint. Le son de leur disque de guitare-rock brillant, punk et émotif retrace en fin de compte le processus d’apprentissage de l’acceptation de l’absence d’acceptation.

Kingston, Ontario band Kasador have never been scared of change. And the three friends at Kasador’s core—Cameron Wyatt (vocals/guitar), Boris Baker (bass), and Stephen Adubofuor (drums)—have been through a lot of it. They’ve woven years of tumult into something powerful and real: a tight-knit, sincere, caring rock and roll band hitting full sprint. Their bright, punkish, emotional guitar-rock record sound ultimately tracks the process of learning to be okay with not being okay.

The Codas

Liya Bombardier

Liya Bombardier est une auteure-compositrice-interprète qui mélange sensibilité et force à travers ses chansons. Originaire de Montréal, elle s’inspire de ses expériences personnelles pour créer une musique pop alternative sincère et authentique. Avec des mélodies captivantes et des paroles qui touchent en plein cœur, Liya explore les hauts et les bas de l’amour, les doutes, et la quête de soi. Forty Seven Teeth

Forty Seven Teeth vient d’une petite ville endormie sur les rives du lac Ontario. À part devenir gardien de prison ou abandonner l’université, il n’y a pas grand-chose à faire dans cette ville. Animés par la ferveur d’écrire des chansons mémorables avec un cran passionné, Forty Seven Teeth ont un objectif pour lequel ils n’ont pas peur de travailler dur : ils veulent que leur musique soit dans les oreilles et sur les lèvres du plus grand nombre de personnes possible.

Forty Seven Teeth are from a sleepy little city on the shores of Lake Ontario. Aside from becoming a prison guard or a university dropout, there’s really not that much to do there. Fueled by a fervor for writing memorable songs with impassioned grit, Forty Seven Teeth have a goal that they aren’t afraid to work hard for: they want their music to be in the ears and on the lips of as many people as possible.

Andy Boay

La musique d’Andy Boay exploite à la fois l’euphorie et la tristesse de la pop psychédélique, aussi bien sur scène parmi des amis et des inconnus, qu’en studio, seul devant son 8 pistes. Aujourd’hui, il vit et travaille dans le quartier d’East Village à New York.
Andy Boay (Andy White) a commencé à jouer et à enregistrer de la musique lorsqu’il était adolescent à Orlando au début des années 2000, explorant le bruit, la musique psychédélique et la pop dans des groupes et des projets solos. Il joue dans le duo Tonstartssbandht avec son frère Edwin depuis 2007. Il a passé six ans à jouer de la guitare dans le groupe de tournée de Mac DeMarco. Entre 2007 et 2013, il a vécu et travaillé à Montréal, la ville où son jeune cœur réside toujours.

Andy Boay’s music taps both the euphoric and the sorrowful of psychedelic pop, both onstage amongst friends and strangers, and tracking alone at his 8-track in the studio. These days he lives and works in the East Village neighborhood of New York City.
Andy Boay (Andy White) began playing and recording music as a teen in Orlando during the early 2000s, exploring noise, psych, and pop in bands and solo projects. He has played in the duo Tonstartssbandht with his brother Edwin since 2007. He spent six years playing guitar in the touring band for Mac DeMarco. Between 2007 and 2013 he lived and worked in Montreal, the city where his younger heart still resides.

Joshua Frank

Joshua Frank est un bassiste né à Montréal et un réalisateur de documentaires. Actif au sein du duo Beijing « phantom rhythm » Gong Gong Gong, acclamé par la critique, son travail solo combine des techniques de jeu étendues avec des effets d’overdrive et de fuzz pour explorer les possibilités harmoniques et tonales de la guitare basse.
Son instrument minimalement traité devient un générateur de sons mélodiques et percussifs. La crudité méditative de ses compositions rappelle les sons induisant la transe, de la musique dévotionnelle à la techno. Puisant dans les motifs sonores élémentaires de toutes les cultures, il considère son travail comme un processus de réflexion sur le foyer et d’exploration d’influences musicales et culturelles profondément enracinées.
En tant que bassiste solo, Joshua a contribué aux enregistrements de Yu Su et de Ky Brooks. Son duo Gong Gong Gong, avec le parolier et guitariste cantonais Tom Ng, a été salué par le magazine Wire, Pitchfork, le New Yorker, CBC et Interview Magazine. Il a effectué de nombreuses tournées en Chine, au Japon, aux États-Unis et en Europe, et s’est produit au MoMA PS1, au Kitchen et au SXSW (États-Unis), ainsi qu’au M+ Museum (Hong Kong).

Joshua Frank is a Montreal-born bassist and documentary filmmaker. Active in the critically acclaimed Beijing “phantom rhythm” duo Gong Gong Gong, his solo work combines extended playing techniques with overdrive and fuzz effects to explore the harmonic and tonal possibilities of bass guitar.
His minimally-processed instrument becomes a melodic and percussive tone generator—the meditative rawness of his compositions recall trance-inducing sounds from devotional music to techno. Tapping into elemental sonic motifs across cultures, he sees his work as a process of reflection on home and exploration of deep-rooted musical and cultural influences.
As a solo bassist, Joshua has contributed to recordings by Yu Su and ky brooks. His duo Gong Gong Gong, with Cantonese lyricist and guitarist Tom Ng, has been recognized by Wire magazine, Pitchfork, the New Yorker, CBC and Interview Magazine. He has toured extensively in China, Japan, the United States and Europe, and has performed at MoMA PS1, the Kitchen, and SXSW (USA), and M+ Museum (Hong Kong).

The Plastic Waste Band

The Plastic Waste Band est un groupe de rock expérimental né de la communauté jazz de Montréal, au Canada. C’est un vrai band : des collaborateurs de longue date qui s’envolent dans des improvisations psychédéliques de groupe, portés par des compositions finement ciselées. Guitares électriques, saxophone enflammé, contrebasse percutante et grosses drums évoquent une collision entre Led Zeppelin et le John Coltrane Quartet. À la suite de la sortie de leur premier album éponyme en 2017, le groupe a choisi de verser tous les profits des ventes à des organismes œuvrant pour la protection de l’environnement. Leur deuxième album, Crushed, est paru en septembre 2019 sur l’étiquette montréalaise Florafone Records. Il s’articule autour de la question de créer de l’art face à la destruction inévitable de l’humanité. Revelations EP, sorti en 2020, poursuit ce thème apocalyptique en explorant la beauté qui peut naître de nos propres ruines. Depuis leur tout premier show en 2016, The Plastic Waste Band s’est produit à maintes reprises, notamment au Off Festival de Jazz de Montréal (2018, 2023), au TU Jazz Festival (2019, 2022) ainsi qu’au Festival International de Jazz de Montréal (2023).

The Plastic Waste Band is an experimental rock band born from the jazz community of Montreal, Canada. This is a band in the truest sense: longtime collaborators who fly into psychedelic group improvisations on the wings of finely tuned compositions. Electric guitars, soaring saxophone, thumping acoustic bass, and big drums evoke Led Zeppelin crashing a gig with the John Coltrane Quartet. Following the 2017 release of their self-titled debut album, they chose to donate all proceeds from the album’s sales to charities dedicated to environmental conservation. Their second album, “Crushed,” was released on Montreal label Florafone Records in September 2019. It is centered around the issue of creating art in the face of humanity’s inevitable destruction. “Revelations EP,” released in 2020, builds upon this apocalyptic theme, depicting the beauty that can grow from our own ruins. Since their first show as a band in 2016, The Plastic Waste Band has performed extensively, most notably at the Off Festival de Jazz de Montréal (2018, 2023), TU Jazz Festival (2019, 2022) and the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal (2023).

TV Erased

Il y a une beauté dans l’intensité inébranlable du son du groupe. TV Erased, ce sont des éclats étudiés de bruit de guitare et des nuances post-punk, sur une base de batterie R n B soul et de percussions latino et moyen-orientales. Ce sont ces influences que le groupe assemble pour créer une bête magnifique et originale.

There is beauty in the unwavering intensity of the band’s sound. TV Erased are studied bursts of guitar noise and post-punk shadings, atop a foundation of soulful R n B drumming and Latino and middle-eastern percussion. These are the influences that the band stitches into a beautiful and original beast.

Stucco

Groupe post-punk formé en 2019 à Calgary, en Alberta. Il comprend d’anciens membres de DRI HIEV, Crack Cloud et Body Lens. Le premier album de Stucco a été enregistré à l’automne-hiver 2023 avec Chris Dadge (Alvvays, Chad VanGaalen, Lab Coast) à la tête de la production. L’album est sorti en novembre 2024. Les chansons de Stucco reflètent le tourbillon du consumérisme, du capitalisme et de la technologie, tout en explorant rythmiquement l’angularité de la musique.

A post punk band formed in 2019 from Calgary, AB. Featuring former members of DRI HIEV, Crack Cloud, and Body Lens. Stucco’s debut LP was recorded during the fall/winter of 2023 with Chris Dadge (Alvvays, Chad VanGaalen, Lab Coast) at the helm of production. The album was released in November of 2024. Stucco’s songs reflect the vortex of consumerism, capitalism and technology while carrying out rhythmic explorations into the angularity of music.

Poolgirl

Poolgirl est un groupe de rock alternatif de cinq membres basé à Montréal, au Québec. Combinant des influences riot grrl et punk avec du rock indé mélodique, le groupe joue en concert sans arrêt depuis la sortie du démo « is this it ??? » en janvier 2024. Le plus récent single de Poolgirl, « Triple A », sorti en mai, incarne ce que le groupe fait de mieux : un rock amusant et énergique qui ne se prend pas trop au sérieux. Qu’il s’agisse de concerts en sous-sol ou en plein air, de lancements de magazines ou de festivals, Poolgirl attire toujours une foule d’amis pour danser, s’amuser et chanter (ou crier) avec lui.

Poolgirl is a five piece alternative rock group based in Montreal, QC. Combining riot grrl and punk influences with melodic indie rock, the band has been playing live nonstop since releasing the demo “is this it???” in January 2024. Poolgirl’s most recent single “Triple A”, released in May, embodies what the band does best: fun, energetic rock that doesn’t take itself too seriously. From D.I.Y. basement and outdoor gigs to magazine launches and festivals, Poolgirl consistently brings out a crowd of friends to dance, mosh, and sing (or scream) along.
