Suoni Per Il Popolo : Mesocosm + Lentement

Le trio montréalais Mesocosm est une collaboration entre la vidéaste Emma Forgues et les musiciens Philippe Vandal et Joël Lavoie. Mesocosm explore un écosystème autonome à travers un mélange de synthèses modulaires, d’enregistrements de terrain et de manipulations vidéo en direct, créant un paysage sonore imprévisible qui mélange glitch, bruit, ambient et électroacoustique. Lentement est un nouveau projet musical né de la collaboration entre Jessica Pion, Jerry-Lee Boucher et Samuel Bobony. Leurs compositions se déploient dans le temps, évoluant à différentes vitesses, explorant l’abstraction de la lenteur et de l’anticipation à travers la répétition. Avec leur performance électroacoustique expérimentale hybride, Lentement passe de l’électronique expérimentale aux boucles sonores à travers des rythmes pulsés qui captiveront les fans de post-rock, de minimalisme, de post-punk et d’IDM.

Join Mesocosm for a journey into an alien world where the synthetic and the organic merge in perfect symbiosis. Montreal trio Mesocosm is a collaboration between video artist Emma Forgues and musicians Philippe Vandal and Joël Lavoie. Mesocosm explores an autonomous ecosystem through a mix of modular synthesis, field recordings and live video manipulation, creating an unpredictable soundscape that blends glitch, noise, ambient and electroacoustics. Lentement is a new musical project born of the collaboration between Jessica Pion, Jerry-Lee Boucher and Samuel Bobony. Their compositions unfold in time, evolving at different speeds, exploring the abstraction of slowness and anticipation through repetition. With their hybrid experimental electroacoustic performance, Lentement moves from experimental electronics to sound loops through pulsating rhythms that will captivate fans of post-rock, minimalism, post-punk and IDM.

Badflower est un groupe américain de rock formé en 2013 à Los Angeles, Californie, dont la musique peut être rapprochée du style emo ou grunge. Le groupe est composé du chanteur-guitariste Josh Katz, du guitariste Joey Morrow, du bassiste Alex Espiritu et du batteur Anthony Sonetti. Le single Ghost, sorti en 2018, compte plus de 40 millions d’écoutes sur Spotify et plus de 25 millions de vues sur YouTube, et est classé 1er du Billboard des titres les plus joués sur les radios rock américaines. Leur premier album studio, intitulé OK, I’M SICK, sort le 22 février 2019. Le groupe a annoncé en juillet 2021 la sortie de son 2e album intitulé “This Is How The World Ends” prevu pour le 24 septembre 2021, le single “Family” est le premier titre dévoilé de ce nouvel album.

Randy Gagne, également connu sous le nom de Man Made Hill, est un pilier de la scène musicale underground de Hamilton, en Ontario, depuis 15 à 20 ans. Il mélange harmonieusement l’art de la performance, le funk délirant, la musique de bande sonore et la comédie existentielle pour créer une expérience déroutante et inoubliable. Avec ses crooners macabres et ses paroles vives, Man Made Hill emmène les auditeurs dans un voyage à travers les profondeurs du monde du divertissement, tout en dansant face à l’effroi existentiel. Snake of Rhyme, le projet d’enregistrement de Ky Jukka, offre une évasion dans un pays de chansons ludiques mais professionnelles. Le travail de Ky Jukka est influencé par les techniques expérimentales et le shoegazing, ainsi que par le formalisme classique, le tout rassemblé dans un sens pop. Ancien membre du duo art-prankter She-Devils et ayant collaboré avec Devon Welsh à la production, Snake of Rhyme possède un son brillant et singulier qu’il ne faut pas manquer. Nouveau et bien-aimé sur la scène, Le Travailleur est un projet électronique récent de Montréal avec un tempo impeccablement dansant, alias la poésie électronique.

Randy Gagne, also known as Man Made Hill, has been a staple in the underground music scene in Hamilton, Ontario, for the past 15-20 years. He seamlessly blends performance art, delusional funk, soundtrack music, and existential comedy to create a bewildering and unforgettable experience. With his patented ghoulish crooning and vivid lyrics, Man Made Hill takes listeners on a journey through the depths of the entertainment world, all while dancing in the face of existential dread. Snake of Rhyme, the recording project of Ky Jukka, offers an escape into a playful yet professional songland. Jukka’s work is influenced by experimental and shoegazing techniques, as well as classical formalism, all brought together in a pop sense. As a former member of the art-prankster duo She-Devils and having collaborated with Devon Welsh on production, Snake of Rhyme has a brilliant, singular sound that is not to be missed. New and beloved on the scene are Le Travailleur, a recent electronic project from Montreal with an impeccably danceable tempo, a.k.a. electronic poetry.

Leur programme diversifié comprendra la première québécoise de l’Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso du pianiste Stewart Goodyear, la Sonate Au clair de lune de Beethoven, œuvre toujours populaire, l’influence tzigane hongroise du Duo pour violon et violoncelle de Kodály et les mélodies de danse remarquablement mélodieuses et inoubliables du Trio pour piano « Dumky » de Dvořák.

It is truly remarkable how Canada has distinguished itself internationally in the classical music field.  Coming together for the first time, the three artists in this concert are among the world’s most exciting new generation of international performers. Their varied program includes the Quebec premiere of pianist Stewart Goodyear’s Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, the ever-popular Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven, the Hungarian gypsy influence in Kodály’s Duo for Violin and Cello and the remarkably tuneful and unforgettable dance melodies of Dvořák’s “Dumky” Piano Trio.

Ce sera une soirée à l’énergie débordante, alors que Chris Burns and his Going Concerns, qui sont d’une bizarrerie glorieuse, monteront sur scène, accompagnés du Yoganathan/Jacobs Sound System et d’ishi tishi. Burns fait partie intégrante de la scène musicale montréalaise depuis le début des années 80, et son dernier projet met en valeur tout ce qu’il a appris en cours de route. Son groupe Going Concerns offre des spectacles très énergiques qui mettent en vedette un mélange de nouveaux et d’anciens morceaux de Burnzoid. Les multi-instrumentistes Cabral Jacobs et Nimalan Yoganathan, qui innovent depuis plus de vingt ans, se joignent à Burns. Leur projet Yoganathan/Jacobs Sound System mélange dub, free jazz et musique électronique expérimentale, créant un son troublant et hypnotique. Ne manquez pas non plus ishi tishi, avec l’emblématique Jackie Gallant, anciennement Lesbians on Ecstacy et Slaphappy 5.

This will be a night of boundless energy as the gloriously weird Chris Burns and his Going Concerns take the stage, joined by the Yoganathan/Jacobs Sound System and ishi tishi. Burns has been a fixture of the Montreal music scene since the early 80s, and his latest project showcases everything he’s learned along the way. His Going Concerns deliver high-energy performances featuring a mix of new and old Burnzoid toons. Joining Burns are multi-instrumentalists Cabral Jacobs and Nimalan Yoganathan, who have been innovating for over two decades. Their Yoganathan/Jacobs Sound System project blends dub, free jazz, and experimental electronic music, creating an unsettling and hypnotic sound. And don’t miss ishi tishi, featuring the iconic Jackie Gallant, previously of Lesbians on Ecstacy and Slaphappy 5.

Leur son pop progressif marie les musiques de film vintage et les timbres indie contemporains, et dégage une simplicité brute et une orchestration soignée qui oscille sans difficulté entre les époques, les influences et les genres.

What happens when Neapolitan, Chilean and Catalan sensibilities form a band? The beautiful, swooning arrangements and rich vocal harmonies of Bye Parula, that’s what. Skiifall au Ministère

Pour la petite histoire, Shemar Mckie, alias Skiifall, est né à l’île de Saint-Vincent dans les Caraïbes et a fait son arrivée à Montréal à l’âge de huit ans. En 2020, son titre Ting Tun Up s’est frayé un chemin jusqu’en Angleterre et a fait des flammèches sur la scène drill britannique. Depuis, l’artiste de Notre-Dame-de-Grâce s’est attiré les éloges de nombreuses figures importantes du monde artistique (comme le défunt Virgil Abloh) et est devenu le premier rappeur montréalais à apparaître sur la populaire chaîne musicale Youtube, COLORS.

For the record, Shemar Mckie, aka Skiifall, was born on the Caribbean island of St. Vincent and made his way to Montreal at the age of eight. In 2020, his track Ting Tun Up made its way to England and made sparks fly on the British drill scene. Since then, the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce artist has garnered praise from many important figures in the art world (such as the late Virgil Abloh) and became the first Montreal rapper to appear on the popular Youtube music channel, COLORS.

Suoni est ravi de présenter un voyage sonore atomisant avec le Quatuor Bozzini et Sarah Davachi, interprétant “Long Gradus” de Davachi. “Long Gradus” explore l’expérience spatiale de l’harmonie à travers un système d’intonation juste septimale et de scordatura baroque. Long Gradus est le résultat de la préoccupation constante de Davachi pour les accords, les cadences et les sons soutenus. Il est conçu pour ralentir considérablement les mouvements cognitifs de l’auditeur et de l’instrumentiste, ce qui donne une impression de rythme très différente de celle de la notation mensurale.

Suoni is delighted to present an atomizing sonic journey with Quatuor Bozzini and Sarah Davachi, performing Davachi’s “Long Gradus”. “Long Gradus” explores the spatial experience of harmony through a system of septimal just intonation and baroque scordatura. Long Gradus is the result of Davachi’s constant preoccupation with chords, cadences and sustained sounds. It is designed to slow down considerably the cognitive movements of both listener and instrumentalist, giving an impression of rhythm very different from that of mensural notation.

Philippe Lauzier, Philip Zoubek and Pierre-Yves Martel (PPP) ont une longue histoire de collaboration. Dans le passé, les trois ont joué ensemble sur des instruments traditionnels : anches, piano et viole de gambe. Dans PPP, ils réorientent la sensibilité musicale partagée qui caractérise leurs projets Hübsch Martel Zoubek, Sainct Laurens, Quartetski et Subsurface Trio. Cette fois, ils empruntent une direction électronique. En utilisant des synthétiseurs analogiques, numériques et modulaires, ils génèrent des paysages sonores dynamiques et vibrants, des plans polyphoniques ponctués d’espace et de sérénité.

Philippe Lauzier, Philip Zoubek and Pierre-Yves Martel (PPP) have a long history of collaboration. In the past, the three have played together on traditional instruments: reeds, piano and viola da gamba. In PPP, they reorient the shared musical sensibility that characterizes their projects Hübsch Martel Zoubek, Sainct Laurens, Quartetski and Subsurface Trio. This time, they take an electronic direction. Using analog, digital and modular synthesizers, they generate dynamic, vibrant soundscapes, polyphonic planes punctuated by space and serenity.
