PAN M 360 @ SAT : Neon – MSTRKRFT, Ludovic Lacoste et Shelley Johannson

by Alex Labonté

The NEON collective is taking over the programming of the fourth Dômesicle this Saturday! This three-act show will be presented online and on site (50 people). To start off with a bang, the Toronto duo MSTRKRFT (pronounced Masterkraft), made up of Jesse F. Keeler of Death from Above 1979 and producer Al-P, perform their electro anthems that evoke Daft Punk. Coming from abrasive rock and electro-pop respectively, the two collaborators have released three albums, a dozen singles, and done a large number of remixes for artists as varied as Justice, Kylie Minogue, Metric, Katy Perry, and The Kills.

Next, Ludovic Lacoste (also known as DJ Ludo), a Montreal-based producer and also resident DJ at Beach Club, brings his set, influenced by deep house and bass house, to life. DJ and dance/techno producer Shelley Johannson continues the festivities into the wee hours, and VJs Melesul3 and AZYL will be at the controls of the 360° visuals throughout the evening. Log in and be part of this feast for the senses!

The Distortion festival, a mainstay of the Montreal psychedelic scene, takes over the programming of the third Dômesicle this Saturday! This immersive concert, broadcast live and accessible on site at the Satosphere (seating for 50 max), promises to raise musical consciousness to a new level. It features Dead Dog, FET.NAT, No Joy, Nüshu, and Yoo Doo Right dabbling in styles as varied as shoegaze, industrial/electropop, noise punk, and free jazz mixed with anarchist punk. PAN M 360 is of course conducting video interviews with some of the artists during the day.

Visuals by VJs AS.WED and Jason Voltaire embellish this momentary fugue, and between band sets, experimental short films will be screened. The Distortion festival awaits you at the SAT!

PAN M 360 @ SAT: Dômesicle #2 – Zandoli II, Lexis and Akpossoul

by Alex Labonté

Eight parties, more than 40 artists, the immersive Dômesicle parties are back! Every Saturday from July 11 to August 29, the SAT invites you to stretch your legs with these events presented in hybrid form (as webcasts, as well as with 50 people admitted to the Satosphere dome).

The second Dômesicle evening, co-presented by the independent website Music Is My Sanctuary, is in three parts: Zandoli II, Lexis and Akpossoul. First, starting at 9pm, Montreal duo Zandoli II (formed by DJs Tonton Osman and G L O W Z I) will serve a carefully concocted menu of funk and Afrofuturist flavours. Formed in 2018, the duo has performed at the Kuruz and Iso Radio events in Toronto, as well as at the Puchuncahuín Festival in Chile, and has played at several local parties.

Zandoli II

Following at 10:40pm is Montreal’s DJ Lexis, one of the pillars of the electronic music scene, who has been making his mark for over 15 years. He is also the founder of the 24 Hours of Vinyl project and the Music Is My Sanctuary website. His turntables have taken him to bars and festivals in numerous countries, including Switzerland, Croatia, Montenegro, France, Serbia, and Austria. Lexis presented a conference at TEDxMontreal in 2016, which has been viewed nearly a million times and translated into 18 languages.

After the twelve strokes of midnight, Akpossoul, a DJ and producer active on the stages of several countries for more than a decade, captivates the audience with his favourite styles: Afro, deep house, soul, and funk. The video art group TiND (who recently participated in the Transmission 08 x MUTEK party) and Création Ex Nihilo illuminate the Satosphere with their mesmerizing visuals.
