Chung (20h)

Chung crée une musique avec laquelle on peut facilement vibrer. Des textes percutants, de la soul et quelques perles à garder avec soi. Élevée dans une enclave anglophone du quartier LaSalle à Montréal, au Canada, elle a adopté son nom de scène en référence au personnage de Street Fighter, un clin d’œil à ses traits physiques ainsi qu’à son intérêt pour les arts martiaux. La plus jeune de trois enfants, Chung a grandi dans un foyer musical, influencée par ses origines jamaïcaines et par ses frères aînés, amateurs de rap de la côte Est et de hip-hop du Sud, influences qui ont nourri ses propres ambitions musicales. Chung a sorti les EP acclamés par la critique Chung Shui et Chung Shui II avec le producteur Cotola en 2021 et 2023, mêlant récits de rue du point de vue d’une femme à des beats bruts et dramatiques. Elle a ensuite enchaîné avec l’album de 13 titres See You, When I C U, produit par Mike Shabb et Nicholas Craven l’année suivante.

“Chung makes music you can vibe to. Bars, soul and a few gems for you to live with. Raised in an Anglophone enclave in the LaSalle borough of Montreal, Canada, she adopted her stage name from the Street Fighter character, a nod to her facial features as well as her interest in martial arts. The youngest of three, Chung grew up in a musical household, influenced by her Jamaican upbringing and her older brothers who’d listen to East Coast Rap and Southern Hip-Hop, all of which inspired her own musical ambitions. Chung released the critically acclaimed “”Chung Shui”” & “”Chung Shui II”” with producer Cotola in 2021 & 2023, combining street narratives from a woman’s perspective with raw, dramatic beats. She followed up the EP with “”See You, When I C U””, a 13-track album produced by Mike Shabb and Nicholas Craven the following year.

Kaya Hoax (21h)

Blaise Rival est un producteur montréalais polyvalent dont le parcours éclectique nourrit son travail. Au départ pensée comme une bande sonore, cette mixtape est devenue un véritable manifeste du hip-hop Boom Bap des années 90 grâce aux nombreuses collaborations d’artistes phares de la scène montréalaise. Inspiré par les sonorités de Lauryn Hill, Madlib et J Dilla, Blaise Rival a réuni des talents incontournables tels que Modlee, Seins Sucrer, Mike Shabb, Hawa B, Chung, Knlo, Dj Horg, Kris The Spirit, Sensei H, Magi Merlin, Kaya Hoax et Citizen James. Un projet puissant qui marque un retour à la scène où la diversité de son talent prend tout son sens.

Montreal-based producer Blaise Rival presents his new project, Mains Coupées Mixtape, a work that is both intimate and collaborative. Originally conceived as a soundtrack, the mixtape has become a true testament to 90s Boom Bap hip-hop, thanks to numerous collaborations with key artists from the Montreal scene. Nate Husser (23h)

Hot Garbage se fond dans un amalgame d’éléments sonores hautement volatil, mais indéniablement accessible. Puisant dans les rythmes moteurs du post-punk sombre et du krautrock motorik, la formation torontoise intègre avec fluidité des mélodies lumineuses et des textures tourbillonnantes à des arrangements délibérés et introspectifs. Hot Garbage melt into a heavily volatile yet undeniably palatable amalgamation of sonic elements. Calling on the driving rhythms of dark post-punk and motorik krautrock, the Toronto-based outfit seamlessly works shining melodies and swirling textures into deliberate, brooding arrangements. Since forming in 2015, the four-piece have toured extensively throughout Canada, the United States, Europe and the United Kingdom, bringing their intense live sets to festivals such as Levitation, Freakout Fest, Treefort, SXSW, Sled Island, FME, M for Montreal and Pop Montreal, and sharing the stage with notable acts such as Osees, Ty Segall, L.A. Yoo Doo Right (22h)

La formation de rock expérimental Yoo Doo Right (Montréal, CA) marie guitares mélodiques et bruyantes, trames de synthétiseurs trafiqués, lignes de basse étoffées et déchaînements percussifs calculés, rendant des pièces tentaculaires et cathartiques. Puisant inspiration non seulement du post-rock, du krautrock et du shoegaze, de la musique classique et concrète, comme de l’électroacoustique, elle crée un son unique dévoilant « des gigantesques monoliths de riffs rugissants qui se brisent contre des essaims de rythmes turbulents » (PopMatters).

Experimental rock outfit Yoo Doo Right (Montréal, CA) wed noisy, melodic guitar parts, effects-laden synthesizer soundscapes, deep bass grooves and patented percussive furies into sprawling, cathartic musical pieces. Drawing inspiration from post-rock, krautrock, shoegaze, classical music, electroacoustics, and musique concrète, they create a unique sound where “towering monoliths of roaring riffs crash against swarms of restless rhythms” (Pop Matters).

Protomartyr (23h)

Depuis leurs débuts en 2012 avec No Passion All Technique, le groupe post-punk de Detroit Protomartyr a maîtrisé l’art d’évoquer un lieu : l’humilité abrasive du Midwest propre à leur ville natale, ainsi que la lecture radiographiée de l’Amérique qu’offre leur point de vue. Protomartyr — Joe Casey au chant, Greg Ahee à la guitare, Alex Leonard à la batterie et Scott Davidson à la basse — est devenu synonyme d’assemblages caustiques et impressionnistes où se mêlent politique et poésie, le littéral et l’oblique.

Since their 2012 debut No Passion All Technique, the Detroit post-punk band Protomartyr have mastered the art of evoking place: the grinding Midwest humility of their hometown, as well as the x-rayed elucidation of America that comes with their vantage. Protomartyr—vocalist Joe Casey, guitarist Greg Ahee, drummer Alex Leonard, and bassist Scott Davidson—have become synonymous with caustic, impressionistic assemblages of politics and poetry, the literal and oblique.

Kizaba

Le spectacle Kizaba propose un style musical riche rappelant le Congo et est un voyage afro futuriste « Fumu na betu », pour lequel il crée des vocalisations inspirées de ses ancêtres et mélange des sons de soukous-congolais, d’afrobeat et de pop rock. Sur scène, il utilise son chant, sa batterie et ses percussions en mélangeant musique électronique et sons traditionnels du Congo pour créer un univers afro-futuriste. Pour offrir aux spectateurs une expérience complète, des visuels avec des masques 3D, conçus par KIZABA et inspirés des masques traditionnels du Congo imaginés dans le futur, sont projetés derrière les musiciens, créant une atmosphère captivante dans une autre dimension. La Sapologie fait aussi partie de son univers. . Sur scène, il est accompagné de musiciens (guitariste congolais, guitariste rythmique rock et un DJ). À travers sa musique électronique afro-électro congolaise fascinante et électrisante, KIZABA propose un spectacle fédérateur qui saura émouvoir la foule !

Kizaba’s show features a rich musical style reminiscent of the Congo and is a futuristic Afro journey “Fumu na betu”, for which he creates vocalizations inspired by his ancestors and mixes the sounds of soukous-congolais, afrobeat and pop rock. On stage, he uses his vocals, drums and percussion to blend electronic music with traditional Congolese sounds to create an Afro-futuristic universe. To offer spectators a complete experience, visuals with 3D masks, designed by KIZABA and inspired by the traditional Congo masks imagined in the future, are projected behind the musicians, creating a captivating atmosphere in another dimension. Sapology is also part of his universe. On stage, he is accompanied by musicians (a Congolese guitarist, a rock rhythm guitarist and a DJ). With his fascinating and electrifying Congolese Afro-electro electronic music, KIZABA puts on a unifying show that’s sure to move the crowd!

Sankya

La chanteuse-auteure-compositrice et interprète Sankya a fait sensation dans sa ville natale, Montréal, avec ses singles en 2019. Elle a développé un répertoire musical qui inclut des genres tels que le RnB, le trap soul et la musique dancehall.
Sankya est passionnée de musique depuis un très jeune âge, mais sa carrière musicale a officiellement débuté il y a moins de quatre ans lorsqu’elle a commencé à publier ses chansons en ligne. Ses singles ont atteint plus de 1,3 million de vues/écoutes au total, jusqu’à aujourd’hui. La musique étant sa principale passion, Sankya a quitté l’école pour se consacrer pleinement à
son art et mener à bien ses projets. Depuis 2019, en tant que gestionnaire de sa carrière, elle
veille à rester sur la carte. Écouter de la musique a toujours été son meilleur moyen de s’exprimer et de s’évader de la
réalité. Avec ce contenu, elle souhaite aider les autres à se connecter à sa musique afin qu’ils puissent échapper à leurs problèmes et se sentir bien.

Singer-songwriter and performer Sankya took her native city, Montreal, by a storm with her singles
in 2019. She has built up a body of work that features genres like RnB, trap soul and dancehall
music. Sankya has been into music since a very young age but her music career officially began less than four years ago when she started uploading her songs online. Her singles have reached more than 1.3 million views/streams in total, up to date.
Music being her main passion, Sankya quit school to fully dedicate herself to her craft and get things done. Since 2019, managing herself, she has made sure she stays a part of the map. Listening to music has been her best way to express herself and escape from reality. With this content, she would like to help others connect with her music so they can escape their issues and
feel as good.

MAZA

Maza met en avant sa vulnérabilité et sa conscience profonde, qu’il mêle à des mélodies jazzy. Maza a poussé son style à incorporer des éléments de soul psychédélique et son style sudiste. Je présente mon prochain album, Yesterday’s Mysteries. Yesterdays Mysteries est un album conceptuel qui s’ouvre sur mon passé et donne à l’auditeur un aperçu des différentes circonstances qui ont contribué à mon développement personnel. L’album montre la vulnérabilité d’être arraché à sa famille et à tout ce que l’on connaît à un jeune âge pour aller vivre dans un pays étranger où ma culture a été négligée et incomprise. Il traite des concepts de culpabilité du survivant, de méfiance à l’égard de la famille et d’identité perdue, pour ensuite se transformer en quelque chose de nouveau. L’œuvre comprend des influences représentant les régions d’où je viens, jouant avec les genres du blues, du jazz et de l’âme psychédélique. L’album vise à montrer la persévérance et la détermination à continuer à être qui je dois être sans jamais oublier qui je suis, en rendant hommage au passé tout en continuant l’héritage de mes ancêtres dans un nouveau monde.

Maza showcases vulnerability and deep consciousness, blending them with jazzy melodies. Maza has pushed his style to incorporate psychedelic soul elements and his Southern style. Showcasing my up and coming release Yesterday’s Mysteries. Yesterdays Mysteries is a concept album that opens about my past and gives the listener a glimpse into the different circumstances that contributed to my personal development. The album showcases the vulnerability of being taken from family and everything you know at a young age to move to a foreign land where my culture was overlooked and misunderstood. Dealing with concepts of survivors guilt, mistrust in family and identity lost, to later rubilid to become something new. The work includes influences representing the regions I am from, playing with genres of Blues, Jazz, and Psychedelic soul. The album aims to showcase perseverance and determination to continue being who I need to be but never forget who I made myself, paying homage to the past while continuing the legacy of my ancestors in a new world.

POP Montréal : Mint Simon – Chimera Album Launch avec Crescendo, Seago & Siibii au Belmont

Mint Simon

MINT SIMON (they/them) est l’audacieux projet solo du leader du groupe indie-pop Caveboy. Montréalais et visionnaire de la pop, Mint allie des mélodies contagieuses à une vulnérabilité brute, explorant les thèmes de l’amour, du désir, de la découverte de soi et de la libération. Leur premier EP, Chimera (sorti le 30 mai 2025), est un voyage à travers l’identité, le chagrin d’amour et la guérison, avec des titres comme « Gargoyles » (un clin d’œil à la pop des années 70) et « Feel Better », un duo avec Tafari Anthony. La musique de Mint canalise la pulsation émotionnelle de la pop des années 80 et 90 tout en s’exprimant sans complexe.
Les singles de Mint ont reçu un soutien important de l’industrie, atterrissant sur la liste de lecture Night Pop de Spotify et recevant des éloges de la part de médias tels que MTV, CBC et GLAAD. Seago

Seago se fait un nom. L’artiste torontois a sorti son premier EP, Lawn, en 2022. En 2023, il a lancé son titre indépendant « Cheapshot », qui a cumulé plus de 1,9 million d’écoutes sur Spotify. Il a été sélectionné pour le programme d’artistes mondial Rolling Stone x Spotify RADAR, dans la catégorie « Fresh Finds », et a figuré sur la liste des artistes à surveiller de RADAR Canada. En 2024, Seago a sorti son deuxième EP, Silver, et a été sélectionné pour la liste des « Meilleurs nouveaux artistes » de Pigeons and Planes. Seago a assuré les premières parties d’artistes tels que Nemahsis, Arkells, MAVI et Huron John. En coulisses, Seago a écrit pour des artistes comme GOT7, Nonso Amadi, et bien d’autres.

Billy Woods

Billy Woods est un rappeur qui échappe à toute catégorisation facile ; il revendique Washington D.C. comme ville d’origine, mais a passé une grande partie de sa vie à New York. Né aux États-Unis, il a passé une grande partie de son enfance en Afrique et dans les Caraïbes, étant le deuxième enfant d’un intellectuel jamaïcain et d’un futur révolutionnaire marxiste. Sur le mic, Woods est tout aussi énigmatique, doté de flows polyvalents et d’une capacité non seulement à aborder des sujets que d’autres artistes n’oseraient même pas effleurer, mais aussi à apporter des perspectives uniques sur des thèmes familiers.

He was born in the U.S. but spent much of his childhood in Africa and the West Indies, the second child of a Jamaican intellectual and a would-be Marxist revolutionary. On the mic, woods is no less of a conundrum, possessed of versatile flows and an ability to not only tackle topics other artists wouldn’t dream of, but also to bring unique perspectives to the familiar ones.

POP Montréal : Virginie B – Lancement d’album

L’excentricité envoûtante de Virginie B n’a d’égal que sa créativité débordante. L’autrice-compositrice-interprète, réalisatrice et multi-instrumentiste propose une réappropriation unique des codes de l’hyperpop en y incorporant des touches de nu-jazz, de funk et de R&B, le tout complémenté d’une approche conceptuelle raffinée héritée de l’art pop. Accompagnée de son talentueux collaborateur et co-réalisateur Louis Jeay-Beaulieu, elle applique cet amalgame de styles à la fois distinctif et polyvalent à l’exploration de sa psyché, de sa féminité et de son rapport à la technologie et à la nature. En résulte un exutoire avec lequel elle exprime ses désirs comme ses abus en toute vulnérabilité sans trop se prendre au sérieux, reflétant du même coup une confiance imposante.
Qu’on parle de mise en scène, de création visuelle ou de recherche de textures sonores, Virginie B exploite son large éventail de talents en s’impliquant dans tous les aspects de son art. En spectacle, elle fait preuve d’un charisme hypnotisant, décuplé par la chimie indéniable qu’elle partage avec Louis, qui l’accompagne à la basse. Outre son projet solo, elle apporte sur scène une valeur ajoutée aux divers artistes avec lesquels elle collabore, comme Super Plage, Félix Dyotte, ALIAS ou Marie-Gold.
Son premier album INSULA, lancé de façon indépendante en 2022, attire rapidement l’attention de la critique, récoltant au passage les éloges d’ICI Première, Le Devoir, La Presse, Montreal Rocks! et PAN M 360. Cette reconnaissance culmine avec une nomination au GAMIQ 2022 dans la catégorie Album pop de l’année. Parallèlement, Virginie prouve son talent inné pour la scène à de multiples occasions : aux Francofolies de Montréal, à Coup de Cœur Francophone, au Phoque OFF, au Festival Santa Teresa, au Taverne Tour, aux Sélections officielles pour M pour Montréal 2022 et en tant qu’Artiste officielle lors de l’édition de SXSW en mars 2023. En 2024, Virginie B travaille sur de nouvelles chansons hyperpop qui allient mélodies accrocheuses, expérimentations stylistiques et textures recherchées à une poésie à la fois introspective, profonde et accessible.

INSULA, her debut album, quickly attracted attention upon its independent release in 2022, garnering praise from ICI Première, Le Devoir, La Presse, Montreal Rocks! and PAN M 360. This recognition culminated in a nomination for Pop Album of the Year at GAMIQ 2022.

Marie Davidson is an electronic musician, singer, songwriter and DJ from Montreal, Canada. Active for more than a decade, Davidson’s work is characterized by an ever changing sound. She has produced music in a wide range of styles including Club music, ambient, techno, synth pop, rock and spoken poetry. While much of her work is introspective, sometimes qualified as dark and heavy, elements of humor and vulnerability can always be found.

Chantant au son de la guitare de son père sur des vidéos maison ou entonnant elle-même des chansons lors de réunions familiales, étudiant la musique et les arts au secondaire, la jeune montréalaise a toujours été entourée de création et de créativité. C’est cependant en rencontrant le réalisateur Benjamin Nadeau (benji) qu’elle s’est finalement consacrée davantage à la musique, dévoilant le single alt-pop « Olivia » — qui se retrouvera notamment sur la playlist Lorem de Spotify et mènera à sa signature sous le réputé label vancouvérois Nettwerk, où elle a fait paraître son premier EP When i close my eyes plus tôt cette année.

A born creator who writes, sings and animates, 18 year old dee holt debuts with an exciting ep showing off her indie pop prowess. The Montreal native grew up in a creative household – with a musical father and mother who paints. Naturally, it was only a matter of time before holt discovered her born talents, finding confidence in both her musical abilities, and visually with animation through her college major. Holt has already found some initial success and recognition in the early stages of her career. But don’t worry, you’re still early to this future star.

Robert Robert’s Silicone Villeray, his first French album co-produced with Hubert Lenoir, is an amalgamation of powerful beats and novel slow dance melodies that landed him nominations for both the Félix-Leclerc song award and best alternative album at the ADISQ Gala.
