Fleur de Peau est un duo synth-pop né en 2023, formé de Louis Fernandez et Élie Dubois-Sénéchal. Leur musique, influencée par les années 80, mêle mélancolie, urgence de vivre et engagement queer et féministe. En 2024, ils sortent un premier album aux sonorités électro, punk, dreampop et indie rock, à la fois percutant et poétique.

Fleur de Peau is a synth-pop duo formed in 2023, composed of Louis Fernandez and Élie Dubois-Sénéchal. Their music, influenced by the 1980s, blends melancholy, a sense of urgency, and queer and feminist activism. In 2024, they released a debut album with electro, punk, dreampop, and indie rock influences—both powerful and poetic.

Derrière le visage de Klaus, buriné par l’âpreté du chemin parcouru, les têtes et les cœurs de François Lafontaine (Karkwa, Marie-Pierre Arthur, Galaxie) et Joe Grass (Patrick Watson, Elisapie, The Barr Brothers, Lhasa) ont reconnu l’ampleur des saccades l’ayant mené au bord du ravin. Est-ce que, tout ce temps-là, c’était eux le monstre? Ou avaient-ils simplement œuvrés à le nourrir chaque matin? Dans chaque petit geste, chaque décision plus facile à prendre que la précédente, ils parviennent, avec l’album II, à faire taire le bruit ambiant, la réverbération et l’écho inutile des faits marquants du jour pour offrir la splendeur d’un rush de sucre et l’amplitude d’une vague. C’est Joe Grass et François Lafontaine — deux mules prêtes à porter sur leurs épaules une entité plus grande qu’eux. C’est Frankenstein sur un buzz de Smarties. C’est Klaus.

Behind Klaus’s face, weathered by the harshness of the road traveled, the minds and hearts of François Lafontaine (Karkwa, Marie-Pierre Arthur, Galaxie) and Joe Grass (Patrick Watson, Elisapie, The Barr Brothers, Lhasa) recognized the magnitude of the jolts that had driven it to the edge of the ravine. All that time, were they the monster? Or had they simply been feeding it every morning? In every small gesture, every decision easier to make than the last, they manage, with the album II, to silence the surrounding noise, the reverberation and the useless echo of the day’s headlines, in order to offer the splendor of a sugar rush and the sweep of a wave. It is Joe Grass and François Lafontaine — two pack mules ready to carry on their shoulders an entity larger than themselves. It is Frankenstein on a Smarties buzz. It is Klaus.

Taverne Tour : Julie Doiron au Chez Baptiste

L’autrice-compositrice acadienne Julie Doiron est de retour avec I Thought Of You, son premier album solo en neuf ans. Artiste prolifique, Julie a écrit plusieurs chansons depuis So Many Days (2012), les gardant au chaud en attendant de retourner en studio. Le moment venu, elle a fait appel à ses proches dont, Dany Placard et les frères Daniel et Ian Romano. Ce sont les plus récents ajouts la longue liste de collaborations de Julie, ayant travaillé au fil des ans avec des artistes comme Gord Downie, Herman Dune et l’inoubliable Eric’s Trip, premier groupe canadien à avoir signé avec la maison de disques américaine Sub Pop.

Julie Doiron is back with I Thought Of You, her first solo record since 2012’s So Many Days. These are the latest additions to Julie’s long history of collaboration, working with the likes of Gord Downie, Herman Dune and the unforgettable Eric’s Trip, the first Canadian band signed to American record label Sub Pop. Ever the bountiful songwriter, Julie had been writing songs in the 9 years since her last solo record, keeping them close and waiting to head back to the studio. When the time came, she enlisted close friends to collaborate: brothers Daniel and Ian Romano and Quebecois songwriter Dany Placard.

Avoir Su, son 15 e album, est sorti fin septembre et a reçu une très belle couverture médiatique (Le Devoir, Le journal de Québec, Le Quotidien). Retour à son folk rock / country d’origine (guitare, banjo, harmonica) avec sa fidèle gang qui inclue maintenant sur scène des musiciens de Sara Dufour (avec qui il tourne). La formule est variable, pouvant aller de 4 à 7 mais on aimerait bien le full band en festivals cet été. Le show est super bien rythmé entre tounes classiques, mix rock de ses deux derniers albums et folk / country. Ça boit de la bière aussi ! D’albums en tournées, de collaborations (Sara Dufour, Laura Sauvage, Francis Faubert) en réalisations, Dany Placard est devenu au fil des ans un incontournable de la scène musicale québécoise.

Avoir Su, his 15th album, was released at the end of September and received great media coverage (Le Devoir, Le Journal de Québec, Le Quotidien). Returning to his folk rock/country roots (guitar, banjo, harmonica) with his loyal crew, which now includes musicians from Sara Dufour’s band (with whom he tours), the lineup is flexible, ranging from 4 to 7 members, but we’d love to see the full band at festivals this summer. The show is well-paced, with a mix of classic tunes, rock tracks from his last two albums, and folk/country songs. Beer is also involved! Through albums, tours, collaborations (Sara Dufour, Laura Sauvage, Francis Faubert), and production work, Dany Placard has become a key figure in the Quebec music scene over the years.

Taverne Tour : Élégie and Grand Eugène at Chez Baptiste

Formed in the mid-2010s, Élégie is one of Quebec City’s worst-kept secrets. Led by Lawrence Villeneuve (guitar, vocals), Alex Corriveau (bass) and Maxence Girard (guitar, keyboards), the band has seduced music lovers in the Old Capital with its irreverent, deceptively messy attitude, but above all its simply irresistible new punk/post-wave compositions.

Formé au milieu des années 2010, Élégie est un des secrets les moins bien gardés de Québec. Le groupe mené par Lawrence Villeneuve (guitare, voix), Alex Corriveau (basse) et Maxence Girard (guitare, claviers) a séduit les mélomanes de la Vieille Capitale avec son attitude irrévérencieuse et faussement brouillonne, mais surtout ses compositions new punk/post wave tout bonnement irrésistibles.

Grand Eugène is an Indie Rock band with Dream Pop sounds based in Montreal. It was on the corner of a table in an apartment on Commercial Street in Vancouver that the band’s first songs were born. Demos were quickly recorded with a computer microphone; they made the round trip by e-mail to Montreal, leaving audible the exchanges distorted as much by the Rockies as by the waves of the pacific. The band is made up of Jeremy Lachance on guitar and composition, Melyssa Lemieux on vocals, Olivier Tanguay on drums, Nassim Dib-Mudie on keyboards and Greg Tremblay-Meadors on bass.

Grand Eugène est un groupe de musique Indie Rock aux sonorités Dream Pop basé à Montréal. C’est sur un coin de table d’un appartement sur Commercial Street à Vancouver que naissent les premières chansons du groupe. Les démos sont rapidement enregistrés avec un micro d’ordinateur; ils font l’aller-retour par e-mail vers Montréal, laissant audibles les échanges déformés autant par les rocheuses que par les vagues du pacifique. Le groupe est composé de Jeremy Lachance à la guitare et à la composition, Melyssa Lemieux au chant, Olivier Tanguay à la batterie, Nassim Dib-Mudie aux claviers et Greg Tremblay-Meadors à la basse.
