FME : Ada Lea au Café-bar L’Abstracto

Alexandra Levy, alias Ada Lea, est une artiste multidisciplinaire montréalaise qui marie musique et arts visuels avec une grande sensibilité. Son troisième album, when i paint my masterpiece, est une œuvre intuitive, imagée, presque tactile—chaque chanson s’écoute comme on contemple un tableau. Après des années de tournées épuisantes, Levy a ressenti le besoin de se recentrer. Elle s’est éloignée des attentes de l’industrie musicale pour retrouver un processus de création plus lent et authentique, en se tournant vers l’enseignement, la peinture et la poésie. Enregistré en Ontario rural fin 2023 avec son groupe et le producteur Luke Temple, l’album a été capté en grande partie en live, sans clic, favorisant l’imperfection et la spontanéité. On y retrouve une chaleur acoustique et une esthétique proche du folk canadien des années 1970. Inspirée par des artistes comme Olga Tokarczuk et Leonora Carrington, Levy explore les thèmes de la métamorphose, du rêve, et du regard intérieur. when i paint my masterpiece ne cherche pas la perfection, mais célèbre le devenir. C’est une œuvre vivante, ouverte, qui privilégie le processus à l’objet fini—un témoignage poétique et sincère d’une artiste en pleine réinvention.

Alexandra Levy, known as Ada Lea, is a Montreal-based multidisciplinary artist whose third album, when i paint my masterpiece, blends music and visual art through a deeply intuitive and imagistic lens. Each song feels like a painting—tactile, expressive, and full of emotional resonance. After years of relentless touring, Levy stepped away from the pressures of the industry to rediscover a slower, more honest creative process, turning toward teaching, painting, and poetry. The album was largely recorded live in rural Ontario in late 2023, with her core band and producer Luke Temple. Captured without a click track, its warm, acoustic textures recall the golden era of Canadian folk while embracing human error and spontaneity. Influenced by surrealists like Leonora Carrington and writers such as Olga Tokarczuk, Levy’s lyrics explore transformation, dreams, and the act of observing oneself. when i paint my masterpiece doesn’t chase perfection—it embraces becoming. It’s a poetic, open-hearted work where the process takes precedence over the product. With rich instrumentation and surprising melodic turns, Ada Lea continues to carve a singular path through music and art. The masterpiece, ultimately, is not an endpoint—it’s already here, in the making itself.

FME : Oui Merci au Café-bar L’Abstracto

Formé en 2019 dans l’élan d’une amitié bien réelle — et peut-être d’une bière partagée —, oui merci rassemble Mathilde Joncas, Ludovic Leblond, Laurent Massie, Marc-Antoine Lavallée et Gabriel Couture autour d’un projet indie-rock en français à la fois vibrant, délicat et fougueux. Leur musique, influencée par Dirty Projectors, Animal Collective et Feist, marie précision artisanale et spontanéité, dans un mélange d’émotions qui ne triche pas. Après un passage remarqué aux Francouvertes 2021, ils lancent leur premier EP chaque chose, puis poursuivent leur exploration sonore sur ok bebye (2023), un premier album intense et éclaté, qui évoque aussi bien les amitiés perdues que les élans d’euphorie. L’album mène le groupe sur les scènes du Québec : La Noce, Santa Teresa, FEQ, FRIMAT (en première partie de Karkwa), Petite-Vallée et bien d’autres. En 2024, le single Bébé et deux live sessions au Madame Wood poursuivent cette lancée, culminant avec un concert à guichets fermés à la Sala Rossa au printemps 2025, entouré·es d’ami·es artistes. Dans l’univers de oui merci, tout commence par l’amitié — et chaque chanson est une main tendue vers les autres.

Born out of real friendship—and maybe a shared beer or two—oui merci came together in 2019 when Mathilde Joncas, Ludovic Leblond, Laurent Massie, Marc-Antoine Lavallée, and Gabriel Couture decided to craft music that’s as intricate as it is impulsive. Drawing inspiration from Dirty Projectors, Animal Collective, and Feist, the band delivers a French indie-rock sound that blends precise arrangements with joyful chaos—an emotional whirlwind rooted in honesty. After a standout performance at 2021’s Francouvertes, the band released their debut EP chaque chose, followed by their critically acclaimed first album ok bebye in 2023. The record oscillates between tender reflections and bursts of pure energy—songs about friendship, loss, joy, and everything in between. Their heartfelt live shows took them across Quebec, gracing major festivals like La Noce, Santa Teresa, FEQ, Petite-Vallée, and FRIMAT, where they opened for Karkwa. In 2024, the single Bébé and two live sessions at Madame Wood extended their sonic universe. A sold-out headline show at Sala Rossa in March 2025—with a lineup of friends and collaborators—affirmed their growing place in the francophone music scene. For oui merci, it all starts with friendship—and every song is an invitation to feel more, together.

FME : Alice au Café-bar L’Abstracto

ALICE, c’est du rock, c’est du country, c’est du soul. C’est groovy, c’est seventies, c’est shiny. C’est le genre de musique feel good qui, jouée live, vient shaker de quoi en dedans de nous. Et qui donne envie de shaker de la patte! Avec 10 ans de tournée et pas loin de 800 shows derrière la cravate, peu importe le projet, Alice Tougas grimpe chaque fois sur scène avec une aise éclatante et sa fougue de toujours. Sa soif d’échange est palpable, elle aime parler aux spectateurs, qu’ils se sentent concernés, impliqués dans le show. Elle aime y donner tout son jus, et se nourrir en retour de l’énergie magique de la foule. Accompagnée de son piano et de 4 musiciens tout aussi talentueux, ALICE fait l’effet d’un feu de joie, rassembleuse et chaleureuse.

She loves giving it her all, and in turn, feeding off the magical energy of the crowd. Accompanied by her piano and four equally talented musicians, ALICE feels like a bonfire, unifying and warm.
