Passé du statut d’expérimentateurs brooklyniens à celui de groupe acclamé par la critique, TV on the Radio mêle post-punk, électronique, soul, funk et bien d’autres influences dans une approche résolument inventive. Ce mélange sonore éclectique — sublimé par les productions immersives de David Andrew Sitek et les voix passionnées de Tunde Adebimpe et Kyp Malone — distingue immédiatement le groupe de ses contemporains de la scène new-yorkaise du début des années 2000. Leur univers, à la fois intense et accessible, apparaît déjà pleinement formé sur l’EP Young Liars (2003), puis s’épanouit avec brio sur leur premier album complet, Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes (2004). Growing from Brooklyn-based experimenters into a highly acclaimed outfit, TV on the Radio mix post-punk, electronics, soul, funk, and more in vibrantly creative ways. This eclectic sonic blend — heightened by David Andrew Sitek’s enveloping production and Tunde Adepimbe and Kyp Malone’s passionate vocals and songwriting — immediately distinguished the band from their contemporaries within the early 2000s New York scene. TV on the Radio’s intense yet inviting sound arrived more or less fully formed on 2003’s Young Liars EP; on the following year’s full-length Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes, they embellished on their intense yet inviting sound brilliantly. Praise for their music only grew with 2006’s Return to Cookie Mountain, which featured a cameo by David Bowie, one of the band’s earliest and biggest fans. They continued to innovate on their later albums by adding more momentum on 2008’s Dear Science, leaning into easy grooves on 2011’s Nine Types of Light, and confronting loss with the clear-eyed meditations of 2014’s Seeds. Later in the decade and into the 2020s, fiery live performances upheld TV on the Radio’s reputation as one of alternative music’s most dynamic acts.

Le producteur britannique Barry Can’t Swim crée une house entraînante et mélodique, toujours teintée d’une certaine mélancolie. Influencé par le jazz, l’afrobeat et l’écriture pop classique, il compose des morceaux axés sur le groove tout en accordant une grande importance aux mélodies, souvent enrichies d’échantillons vocaux issus de genres et de cultures variés. Après une série de singles indépendants, il sort deux EPs, dont More Content (2022), aux accents breakbeat marqués. Son premier album, When Will We Land? (2023), nommé au Mercury Prize, confirme son talent. Il poursuit avec Loner (2025), un deuxième disque plus dense et ambitieux.

British producer Barry Can’t Swim makes lively, tuneful house music with a touch of melancholy. Influenced by jazz and Afrobeat as well as classic pop songwriting, his tracks are groove-forward but also emphasize memorable melodies, and frequently contain vocal samples from a wide variety of genres and countries. Numerous stand-alone singles preceded two EPs, including the breakbeat-heavy More Content (2022), and his Mercury Prize-nominated full-length debut, When Will We Land?, arrived in 2023. Loner, a more complex and expansive second album, was released in 2025.

Le chanteur et compositeur australien Nick Murphy est reconnu pour ses productions électroniques atmosphériques, réalisées tant sous son propre nom que sous le pseudonyme de Chet Faker. Il s’est d’abord fait connaître grâce à sa reprise envoûtante et trip-hop de No Diggity de Blackstreet, avant de sortir plusieurs autres singles sous le nom de Chet Faker, dont des collaborations remarquées avec Flume et Kilo Kish. Son premier album, Built on Glass (2014), à la fois sensuel et minimaliste, connaît un immense succès, se hissant en tête des classements et obtenant une certification platine en Australie. Duo de production électronique composé d’Andrew Taggart et Alex Pall, The Chainsmokers mélangent indie, dance et pop dans un son accrocheur qui les a propulsés au sommet des classements avec de nombreux singles multi-platine. Ils se font connaître en 2014 avec #Selfie, un hit dance numéro un qui parodie le narcissisme des années 2010. En 2016, ils enchaînent avec Roses et Don’t Let Me Down (avec Daya), tous deux certifiés au moins cinq fois platine, ce dernier leur valant un Grammy. Leur plus grand succès, Closer avec Halsey, reste en tête des classements pendant 12 semaines et est certifié 12 fois platine. En 2017, ils adoucissent leur EDM pour y intégrer des touches de pop et de rock indie, tout en maintenant leur succès avec Something Just Like This en collaboration avec Coldplay, figurant sur leur premier album Memories: Do Not Open, numéro un au Billboard 200. Dès 2018, ils adoptent un format de sortie mensuelle, compilé sur les albums Sick Boy (2018) et World War Joy (2019). In 2017, Taggart and Pall switched up their aggressive EDM approach to include more pop and indie rock touches, but they remained a platinum act with singles including 2017’s « Something Just Like This » featuring Coldplay. That song was included on their full-length debut, Memories: Do Not Open, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Starting in 2018, the Chainsmokers released a single each month, later collected on Sick Boy (2018) and World War Joy (2019).
