Le groupe canadien The Beaches mêle un garage pop audacieux à l’éclat du glam rock et à l’attitude des girl groups. Formé alors que ses membres étaient encore au secondaire, le groupe voit son style punk-pop sucré s’affirmer au fil des sorties, évoluant vers un son plus musclé, inspiré du rock des années 1970. Leur premier album, Late Show (2017), attire l’attention et leur vaut un prix Juno. Elles remportent un second Juno en 2022 pour la compilation Sisters Not Twins (The Professional Lovers Album). Canadian group the Beaches blend brash garage pop with glam rock flash and girl group attitude. They formed while the members were in high school, and their sugary punk-pop sound coalesced into something tougher and more ’70s-inspired as they released more singles. Their 2017 debut album, Late Show, made enough of a splash to win them a Juno Award. They took home another Juno in 2022 for the compilation album Sisters Not Twins (The Professional Lovers Album). In 2023, they hit the Top 100 of the Canadian Albums Chart with their sophomore long-player, Blame My Ex, which featured the viral hit « Blame Brett. »

Chanteuse et autrice-compositrice à l’univers sombre mais déterminé, Gigi Perez — alias gigi — propose un folk-rock indie sincère, dans la lignée d’artistes comme Lucy Dacus ou Julien Baker. Elle connaît un succès fulgurant en 2021 avec son premier single acoustique auto-produit, Sometimes (Backwood), qui grimpe en tête des plateformes de streaming. Elle étoffe ensuite son style en mêlant guitare acoustique, synthés atmosphériques et arrangements indie rock sur son premier EP en maison de disques, How to Catch a Falling Knife (2023). En 2024, elle atteint le grand public avec Sailor Song, un succès international intégré à son premier album, At the Beach, In Every Life (2025), qu’elle réalise elle-même et qui explore avec intensité les thèmes du deuil.

La chanteuse et autrice-compositrice Gracie Abrams s’illustre dans une pop moderne stylisée et mélancolique, au son évolutif subtilement influencé par Lorde. Singer/songwriter Gracie Abrams specializes in a stylized, moody modern pop with a subtly shifting sound partially indebted to Lorde. Originaires du Kentucky, les membres du groupe s’installent en Angleterre peu avant la sortie de leur premier album éponyme en 2008, qui leur vaut un succès transatlantique grâce au tube Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked. Au fil des années, ils deviennent des habitués des radios rock modernes américaines, avec deux albums certifiés or — Thank You Happy Birthday (2011) et Melophobia (2013) —, puis remportent un Grammy Award grâce à Tell Me I’m Pretty (2015), produit par Dan Auerbach (des Black Keys). Cage the Elephant réitère cet exploit en 2019 avec Social Cues, qui décroche également le Grammy du Meilleur album rock. Après une pause de cinq ans, le groupe fait son retour en mai 2024 avec un sixième album intitulé Neon Pill.

Cage the Elephant repeated this success on 2019’s Social Cues, which also won a Best Rock Album Grammy. After a five-year gap, the band returned with their sixth album, Neon Pill, in May 2024.

Dotée d’une voix riche et veloutée, Lucy Dacus met autant de puissance dans ses morceaux d’indie rock réfléchis que dans ses ballades plus intimes et confessionnelles. Originaire de Richmond, en Virginie, elle se fait remarquer au milieu des années 2010 grâce au single I Don’t Wanna Be Funny Anymore, extrait de son premier album No Burden (2016), salué par la critique et les grands médias indie. Dès ses débuts, Dacus se distingue par une écriture à la fois pleine d’esprit et profondément émotive.
Son deuxième album, Historian (2018), plus dramatique et ambitieux, confirme son talent, la même année où elle fonde le supergroupe Boygenius avec Julien Baker et Phoebe Bridgers, deux autres figures majeures de la scène indie américaine. En 2021, elle dévoile Home Video, un troisième album plus tendre et autobiographique, qui entre dans la première moitié du Billboard 200.
Alors que Boygenius gagne en popularité, Dacus accède pour la première fois au Top 5 en 2023 avec The Record, premier album complet du trio, récompensé aux Grammy Awards et aux Brit Awards. The critical success of the more dramatic follow-up, Historian, in 2018 was followed the same year by membership in Boygenius, a trio with similarly lauded contemporaries Julien Baker and Phoebe Bridgers. Dacus’ more tender and more autobiographical third solo album, Home Video, arrived in 2021 and landed just outside the top half of the Billboard 200. As Boygenius’ popularity surged, Dacus’ first appearance in the Top Five came in 2023 with her trio’s Grammy- and Brit Award-winning full-length debut, The Record.
Her Boygenius bandmates, Hozier, and album co-producer Blake Mills were among the guests on Dacus’ adult-relationship-themed fourth solo outing, 2025’s Forever Is a Feeling, her major-label debut.
