Even though Declan Patrick McManus\u2013who has called himself Elvis Costello since the days when Montreal hosted the XXI Olympiad\u2013is inexorably heading towards septuagenarianism, his production pace remains pretty steady. In the last 15 months, Costello has released: 1. The very successful Hey Clockface<\/em>; 2. Its French-language companion La Face de Pendule \u00e0 Coucou<\/em>, featuring two versions of three of the Hey Clockface<\/em> songs with Iggy Pop and Isabelle Adjani, among others; and 3. A Hispanic version of This Year’s Model<\/em> (which we reviewed here<\/a>). And as 2022 is just beginning, here is The Boy Named If<\/em>, the 32nd studio album of supreme musician-musicophile Elvis Costello. He teams up with The Imposters, i.e. keyboardist Steve Nieve, drummer Pete Thomas and bassist Davey Faragher (replace the latter with Bruce Thomas and you get The Attractions). From \u201cFarewell, OK\u201d the striking first track, to \u201cMr. Crescent\u201d, the thirteenth which delicately closes The Boy Named If<\/em>, Elvis Costello proves that he’s still on fire.
