Iyer&#8217;s concepts are fresh in all their aspects: harmonies, melodic articulation, freedom in improvised sequences and exceptional rhythmic concepts \u2014 hence the album title. Several periods of modern and contemporary jazz are reflected here and there in the trio\u2019s music, marked by the the footprints of Coltrane, Monk, Strayhorn and Ellington.
