A unique moment in pop alchemy, this remarkable metamorphosis reminds us a little of Led Zep and their \u201cKashmir,\u201d but extended over an entire album and, of course, with keyboards and sound effects instead of the orchestra. It\u2019s an unexpected transmutation of a sympathetic psych-rock pastiche into a mythical creature. Alone at the helm as always, Kevin Parker breaks the sound barrier with each stroke of his brush. These walls of vibrating keyboards and grooves running at full speed threaten to leap the rails at any time. Is it rock? Is it disco?
