However, to describe the complex, inventive and sometimes disorienting compositions of Anna Webber, a British Columbian who studied at McGill University&#8217;s Faculty of Music for a while, it is still the first one that comes to mind, as she constantly seeks to push the boundaries of the genre with her expansive directed improvisations. Supported by six musicians, including intrepid Matt Michell on piano and Ches Smith on drums, Mrs. Webber is stunning.
