John Mayer (1930-2004) fut l\u2019un des premiers occidentaux (avec Olivier Messiaen) \u00e0 tenter la rencontre savante entre ces deux univers d\u2019une profondeur intellectuelle remarquable, \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque o\u00f9 les Beatles lan\u00e7aient ce mouvement dans la musique \u2018\u2019grand public\u2019\u2019. Son <em>Concerto pour violon no 2<\/em> fusionne habilement s\u00e9quences m\u00e9lodico-rythmiques indiennes avec une forme de chromatisme presque dod\u00e9caphonique \u00e0 l\u2019europ\u00e9enne, avec un r\u00e9sultat \u00e9tonnamment chantant, accessible et \u00e9vocateur. Sasha Rozhdestvensky impressionne dans cette partition de toute \u00e9vidence redoutable! Je retiens le mouvement final, shostakovitchien et excitant! Le <em>Concerto for the Instruments of an Orchestra<\/em> est du m\u00eame acabit, avec de tr\u00e8s belles interventions des percussions, et une atmosph\u00e8re encore plus pr\u00e8s d\u2019un certain pastoralisme \u2018\u2019exotique\u2019\u2019 \u00e0 l\u2019indienne.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=314&#038;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Ffirsthandrecords%2Fvideos%2F291934662155255%2F&#038;show_text=false&#038;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"314\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowFullScreen=\"true\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jonathan Mayer, fils de John n\u00e9 en 1975, est sitariste, revendiquant des \u2018\u2019gigs\u2019\u2019 avec le nec plus ultra du rock, de la pop et de la musique contemporaine. Son <em>Concerto pour sitar no 2<\/em> se rapproche d\u2019une forme n\u00e9oromantique post-moderne de la musique savante. Il est en ce sens plus cin\u00e9matographique que les partitions de son pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseur. Je le qualifierais d\u2019envo\u00fbtant, en adressant un b\u00e9mol \u00e0 la m\u00e9lodie dominante du 3e mouvement, bas\u00e9e sur un pi\u00e8ce traditionnelle, le <em>Raga Vachaspati<\/em>. Le tout sonne un brin candide, du moins dans son avatar symphonique. L\u2019autre pi\u00e8ce de Jonathan Mayer (qui est \u00e9galement le soliste de ses propres \u0153uvres) intitul\u00e9e <em>Pranam<\/em>, est admirablement somptueuse, telle la trame sonore d\u2019un documentaire de la BBC sur l\u2019Inde et ses panoramas \u00e0 couper le souffle. Les solistes, dont Sasha Rozhdestvensky, Jonathan Mayer, Shahbaz Hussain aux tablas et l\u2019orchestre BBC National Orchestra of Wales dirig\u00e9 par Debashish Chaudhuri sont impeccables!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/album\/5EWVEwt9xQjnUQKChefsRJ\" width=\"300\" height=\"380\" frameborder=\"0\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allow=\"encrypted-media\"><\/iframe>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fascinant programme, tout simplement fascinant!
