Anselmo (Pantera, Down, Superjoint, etc.) released two recordings. First there was <em>When The Cold Truth Has Worn Its Miserable Welcome Out<\/em>, released on September 4, the debut album the En Minor collective of Anselmo and several musician friends, including Stephen Taylor (Superjoint, Philip H. Anselmo &amp; The Illegals), Kevin Bond (Superjoint, Christ Inversion) and Paul Webb (Classhole, Mountain of Wizard). En Minor offers a mix of gothic\/dark Americana, a musical style quite different from all the projects of the singer\u2019s over the years. <em>When The Cold Truth&#8230;<\/em> is an introspective, melancholic, and psychedelic album that\u2019s worth the detour, revealing another facet of the singer, evoking Leonard Cohen on some tracks (\u201cMelancholia\u201d, \u201cDead Can&#8217;t Dance\u201d, \u201cHats Off\u201d).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe style=\"border: 0; width: 350px; height: 786px;\" src=\"https:\/\/bandcamp.com\/EmbeddedPlayer\/album=1824279115\/size=large\/bgcol=ffffff\/linkcol=0687f5\/transparent=true\/\" seamless=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enminor.bandcamp.com\/album\/when-the-cold-truth-has-worn-its-miserable-welcome-out\">When The Cold Truth Has Worn Its Miserable Welcome Out by En Minor<\/a><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the other extreme is Scour&#8217;s mini-album <em>The Black<\/em>. The \u201csupergroup\u201d formed by Anselmo, John Jarvis (Agoraphobic Nosebleed), Derek Engemann (Philip H. Anselmo &amp; The Illegals), Mark Kloeppel (Misery Index), and Adam Jarvis (Pig Destroyer, Lock Up) appropriately concludes the trilogy begun with the EPs <em>The Grey<\/em> (2016) and <em>The Red<\/em> (2017). That\u2019s to say, the six new songs reach a new peak in terms of heaviness, with the exception of \u201cMicrobes\u201d, an atmospheric interval that serves as a springboard for the vitriolic \u201cSubprime\u201d. Several guests add spice to the EP, including guitarist Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal) and actor Jason Momoa (<em>Dune<\/em>, <em>Game of Thrones<\/em>), who can be heard on \u201cDoom\u201d, a black-metal smack that would have its place on an Emperor record. <em>The Black<\/em> is concise, catches the attention with its effective riffs, and makes you want to hear more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe style=\"border: 0; width: 350px; height: 654px;\" src=\"https:\/\/bandcamp.com\/EmbeddedPlayer\/album=2423270054\/size=large\/bgcol=ffffff\/linkcol=0687f5\/transparent=true\/\" seamless=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scourhc.bandcamp.com\/album\/black-ep\">Black EP by Scour<\/a><\/iframe>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This fall, the prolific Philip H.
