In the \u201990s she was shining bright with her band Moloko, accompanied by Mark Brydon, but hasn&#8217;t really sparkled since 2007 and the release of her first solo album <em>Overpowered<\/em>. Led by the tracks \u201cLet Me Know\u201d and \u201cYou Know Me Better\u201d, its acid pop\/disco wasn\u2019t entirely convincing, and R\u00f3is\u00edn Murphy had left us a bittersweet thirst for her past. Even though the international anthem \u201cSing It Back\u201d still sounds as good as it did twenty years ago, <em>R\u00f3is\u00edn Machine <\/em>offers a big dose of freshness. Like Giorgio Moroder or Cerrone in their early years, with this new album, the disco queen dons her crown anew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She availed herself of the services of her most faithful producer, Richard Barrat, alias DJ Parrot. \u201cI feel my story&#8217;s still untold\u201d \u2013 with these few words, she opens the ball. A very round bass and a very housy loop tell us we\u2019re in for a long night. The BPMs rise gradually for eight long minutes, as if to show that she still has some power to spare. Her voice on \u201cKingdom of Ends\u201d finally brings things back to what she does best. The power escalates beautifully before the explosion of desire. Because, yes, that\u2019s what it\u2019s all about too. She\u2019s not afraid to expose the relationship she feels with her most erotic imaginings \u2013 \u201cI&#8217;ve come to know the true form of my desires\u201d. The album sounds like a psychoanalytic session, before diving into club electro like \u201cWe Got Together\u201d or the banger \u201cShellfish Mademoiselle\u201d, and disco takes back its rightful place again on the very groovy \u201cMurphy\u2019s Law\u201d. R\u00f3is\u00edn&#8217;s voice is delicious and catchy.
